I know it's a new car, but, damn, guys. Worrying so much about stuff like this?

Often times, if you just hang on a bit, the condensation will disappear and not come back. I've gotten condensation like that on several of my cars. I didn't do anything and in every case, it was gone in a couple of days.

The folks that freak out and start drilling holes (yes, I had an RX8), letting the dealership f' with their cars... you'll end up getting a scratch on the bumper, or the replacement won't fit as well as the original, or you'll get a rattle because the tech forgets to replace a grommet. You think you're doing yourself a favor, and you end up two steps backwards.

Could be worth it to just chill and see if it doesn't fix itself.

if this happened to me, i'd be worried. not that i don't know how to get rid of condensation, but the fact that it may happen again. leaving it the way it is isn't going to fix the problem.. permanently. while i agree i can never trust leaving my car with mechanics who basically rush the job and forget grommets, or mix and match nuts and bolts, but it's not like they're taking the engine apart, it's just a tail light. i don't think the toyota techs can really mess that up especially when they have the repair manual telling them step by step how to do it. should only be a 15 min job to remove, replace, and install. just have to remove the inner trunk cover and undo 4 nuts holding each tail light in place.

Now the question becomes can I pay the difference and have the gt86 lights put in instead of the frs'? Wishful thinking?

You all will not believe this...

Just 48 hours after I send the Chief Engineer Tada, about the mild condensation issue.

He has stopped whatever he was doing in Abu Dahbi, called the plant to investigate and had them find the issue, corrected it on the production line, and reported back to me for all of you.

"The slight issue was in the assembly process, and has been corrected and recorded.
There is no issue with the lamp assembly housing itself, and if there are indications of this on some cars already delivered, please contact your Scion dealers/Subaru dealer for a simple remedy."
<--my translation, not exact Japanese words verbatim.

I'm still awaiting his reply if this was something we can fix ourselves...as he never mentioned exactly what it was.
I'm sort of suspecting loose harness gasket or nut on the lamp housing?
He'll get back to me, or through a Toyota bulletin with something official, I suppose. Stay tuned.

Talk about QUICKLY getting things done!! Way to go Toyota!

This is unacceptable. I demand a full swap to the 86 taillights and the HID 86 headlights for the unbelievable stress/trauma this has put my FR-S though, not to mention myself as well. :P

I'm glad they're on it already. It's a first model year so I'm expecting a few bugs and glitches here and there

it's great to have direct contact with someone with authority.

relying on the dealership network will probably take 48 months instead of 48 hours.

Thanks Moto san and well done to the team at Toyota/Subaru.

my car is not built yet so i guess this wont effect me.

Should we expect to see this same issue on the BRZ?
