Just called Toyota service. Gave them the part # for the lowering springs, they say the part is discontinued and not available.

The weird thing is one Tada interview where he said the car was engineered to have perfect suspension geometry about 20mm lower. All auto-makers soften up the suspensions for the lightweight's. Usually a TRD suspension is a transformation that beats coil overs costing 3x as much. There must be some strange hold up on this an the bilstein based TRD struts.

If the TRD springs have bilstien's based around them, I'm switching when they finally come out.

Guys, the TRD springs would likely be pretty good. But they're not magic! Yes you wouldn't have as much trouble with warranty, but really that just covers your shocks in the case they blow out. Aftermarket springs would not affect any other aspect of your warranty. Get a good quality spring with a mild/medium drop of about 20mm....say RCE Yellow or Swift or Eibach Pro-kit (not sportline) and you won't have to worry about blowing your shocks anyway. Get a RCE Yellow + RCE Swaybar set for a complete package for a good price. We'll have a package with Bilsteins soon too. I do get the OEM thing...we were way into the STI Japan "pink" stuff back in the day. It sort of became our target for some of the parts we make. An OEM-like Sport option that just turned things up a notch, looked good, and was still comfortable, streetable, and durable. Just a few thoughts. I am surprised that TRD is not all in for this car. - Andy |

If they're not out by spring next year, I'm just gonna get me a set of Hotchkis lowering springs.
