I'm on stock suspension and figured I'd get 245/35 for the rears

Will I have any clearance issues mounting an 18x9 +20 wheel? I'm prepared to run -2.5 camber at least..

225/40/18

Car is on FA500's
Camber bolts
Rear LCAs in the mail

I've tried to search with little success but does any one know if a 225/50R17 tires will fit the stock FRS wheels and suspension without rubbing? Bonus point if you have pictures. Looking to get a tame rally look.

PDXsuperfly: From one thread about winter tires i recall, that 215/55/R17 rubbed slightly on full lock (so i guess 215/50/R17 should be ok). Are 225/50/R17 same or slightly smaller or slightly larger? Check with some online tire calc. Also there is 'meaty tires' thread in tires section. While from time to time people misunderstood and posted big diameter wheels and wide tires there, originally it was about 'meaty', about 'high sidewall', so i guess if you page through that thread, you may find examples of bigger wheels there.
P.S.
If you want more ground clearance, you may consider & google for "lift spacers brz". Then one can get more ground clearance even with normal sized wheels. You may also consider "rally-ish" wheel designs, eg. sparco terra. And rallyarmor mudflaps . But if you'll go after big diameter wheels/tires route, you may consider installing also other FD, to counter overall gearing ratio changes due bigger wheels, to not worsen acceleration. Of course for actual more bad-roads/rally capability best bet would be installing more capable/higher travel coilovers, but it may get a bit costly/too specialised. Though i'd consider of something like TRD rally coilovers (+10mm. Unfortunately haven't seen any real review of them), or KW V1/V3/RCE T0/T2 + lift spacers (even while KWs and based on them RCEs have more travel then stock, their overall height is a bit lower, hence - spacers)

churchx: I'll keep going though those threads to see what I can find. The plan for now is to try to get the highest sidewall tires and see how I feel about this rally inspired look. Then if it is something that I like; I am thinking of getting some 16s with aggressive tires and the TRD rally suspension. I've always loved the look of turbo fanish wheels but have not seen too many that would fit the frs.

I believe I saw some spacers with stock suspension and didn't really like the look. The other benefit I had in my mind is that I can find a set of stock wheels around here for pretty cheap. I figure I could then switch from "street" to "rally" pretty easily once I clone the tpms sensors (I assume this is the route I would have to go with swapping wheels at home).

Also I figured my OFT tune OFH & over pipe with Perrin exhaust and drop in K&N would help alleviate any issues with lack of oomph. Not to mention the red rally flaps on a white car should add like a dozen HP...

I also read the a higher sidewall will flex a little more and that perhaps some run flats could help stiffen the tire...? The thread was pretty old and not too many specifics but is this still the case?

I was looking at a squared setup of 18x9.5 et25 and wanted to put 235/40 18 in the fronts and 265/35 18 in the rear, but I'm not really sure if it would work. I don't mind a little poke nor do I mind a little sunken look. I'm putting in tein coils next week. And most likely won't have the rims and tires for a couple of months but I want to know if it will work

Hypothetically, if I had 3mm of clearance on an 18x9.5 +40 wheel on 245/35 tire..
Would it be correct to say I have 5mm of clearance on an 18x9.5 +43 wheel on a 235/40 tire? (Approx -1 degree camber)

Yes, rim clearance +3mm.
Tire clearance, 10mm difference, so half that(half inside/half outside), so another 5mm added to the 3mm offset difference, for a total of 8mm. (plus a tiny bit more sidewall clearance from the tire stretch)

Ah, but wouldn't I lose the initial 3mm of rim clearance by going from +40 to +43 offset? (Since +43 brings the rim closer the hub/coil).

@Sportsguy83 was running that exact setup ZE40s on his twin. Should work with rolled fenders and some negative camber.

Correct @Kami Speed I did run that setup with no major issues. Coilovers, between -1 and -2 camber. Rear LCAs, front camber plates. The most important factor here is the car drop. I was on a mild drop. If this fits or not, depends greatly on how low is your car. The lower, the more difficult it is.

I now run TE37 SL 18x9.5 +40 and the same MPSS and they also fit nicely.

Thank you for the info. I am hoping to go for the KW V3 and the minimum drop is 0.8" which I am fine with. Hopefully those coilovers are ok with Canadian winters

Yes, strut clearance. If you are running stock style struts you will have clearance issues up front. If you are on aftermarket coilovers, you will be ok.
