i used to get 32-34 then i got the perrin pulley and it went to 28-30 idk why or how but it happened regardless of how conservative i drive. so that could be a potential factor??

On a recent 250 mile trip to the mountains I averaged 30.2 mpg. That trip was 85% flat freeway at an average speed of 75-80 mph and 15% mountain driving at an average speed of 40 mph. Otherwise, Los Angeles city driving gets me around 20 mpg.

I got about 31.2 in my first tank which is mix hwy/city. I got 26.5 in my second which is 100% city. Not too shabby if you ask me.

How in the world are you guys getting that doing just city? I do 90% city and I'm getting like 18 - 20 max. And I've been driving like a old lady just to see if it's my driving. It's true that it's completely stop n go and bumper to bumpers, but still shouldn't I see something a bit higher???

When I do mixed 50/50 city/hwy then I've seen something like 24 - 25, which is acceptable.

I drive almost 100% city. I shift at low RPM's and have the indicator on for fuel mileage shifts. I normally skip gears also. I start in 1st and depending on the situation will skip second and go to 3rd. From there I normally skip straight to 6th. It takes a little getting to know the car so you know what gear you can skip to without bogging down.

I don't engine brake, I usually put it in neutral and coast to stops.

Just did a fresh calculation this morning and I was around 18.5 as well. I don't drive hard at all and I doubt the car has gone over 35 mph in 2 weeks or so... 100% traffic driving these past few weeks. Just filled up my truck at an average of 3 mph pulling a trailer in traffic.

My normal week is probably 70/30 hwy/city and I was at 28-29 for average before adding RAN-UP to my oil, and now get 30-31.

As noted in my Owner's Journal (see sig. for link) I use mine almost exclusively for commuting in Atlanta traffic.

That's about 40 miles one way in Atlanta traffic, usually 4 days a week. About 15 miles of it is "city driving" with speeds under 45, and stop and go traffic. The rest is highway speeds, but varies from 70MPH to stop and go depending on the day, and can include significant "idling time". It also includes "city driving" doing normal day-to-day stuff around my home, all between 35 and 55MPH with lots of stop lights, etc. Based on average length of time, I would say speed wise I average about 42MPH in the mornings and 35MPH in the evenings.

I make no attempts to improve MPGs and drive somewhere between safe and aggressive. I usually drive in full auto, but make a lot of use of the paddles for downshifting (its pretty much second nature now, I don't even consciously do it)

After almost 7K miles of this, I'm averaging just shy 32MPG with the 6AT. Absolute worse was over 29, best was over 34 (which was a road trip not a commute).
