New Hood Vent

A friend steered me on to this. He installed one in his FRS and showed mush lower engine temps on track, so I just finished installing one in my car. Haven't had it on track yet but around town in our 115 degree Palm Springs temps water and oil temps are down.

I got this off e-bay for 83 bucks, it's off a late model Shelby Mustang.

Looks a little blocky / awkward. Almost like it is attempting to be an EVO, but it doesn't have the angles to make it work.

I like it. But I don't park under a car port of garage so I wouldn't do it. I do like the RK Sport ram air hood though. I wish this car had come with a ram air hood

Actually it works quite well. The person that told me about it showed significant
temp drops on track compared to before the vent.

I meant in terms of looks. You placed a vent where velox has proven to an effective area, so I would believe a temperature benefit.

Someone might say it doesnt look right but to me it makes more artistic sense than it doesnt. I see this as a win and will probably do this in the future. Will wait for a write up first.

I made a template of the hole I needed to cut out. Cut the whole out with hand held jig saw. Then sanded it to fit. The grill slips over the hood in front and snaps in place in the back and with 3M double sided tape. It was pretty straight forward for me but you could also take it to your favorite paint/body shop.

Fukin sweet lol. A junkyard hood and that vent probably cheaper than an oil cooler. Keep your pretty OEM on in the closet.
