I think this has happened to alot of people. It happened to me once in an old car. It almost lurched forward off of a lift. Needless to say, I always always always make sure it's in nuetral now before I let the clutch out. Once was enough to scare me straight.

Sounds more like operator error. I would think it would be pretty obvious the gear was in 1st and not neutral. That said, I must admit to doing this several times.

Couple weeks ago I was removing a wire harness for the fog lights I've installed. Had the wires all clean and tie wrapped running back into the cabin. Using a set of cutting dykes to cut the ties and managed to cut a wire in the main engine harness that the harness was strapped to. Of course it was tucked way down behind the brake booster. Took me 4 hours to get the wire spliced back together.

I've done this once in my life...12 years ago when I was a week from turning 16 - lurched in to the toolbox in the garage and crunched in to the wall. Has never happened again. Now with that said, I ALWAYS leave the car parked in 1st, but don't religiously use the e-brake. No matter what though, the moment I sit in the car - clutch & brake pedals in and shifter gets a wiggle in neutral.

I understand it's not what you're used to, but something you're responsible for being aware of. Imagine if there had been a car parked in front of you instead of a curb; there's no chance in hell you'd be able to blame the dealer for that.

Alas, I've done this now to both sides. It is IMPOSSIBLE to remove/install these.

Just got the car back from misadventures attempting to fix a rock chip in the fender - wet sanded down to primer, had to give it to the bodyshop to respray.....500 dollars later she's good as new, now there's a dent in my wallet....

Not to derail this thread, but you know of a place to get replacements clips? I was taking mine off to show a friend how to do it and broke it

Sorry, I don't. I used the opportunity to buy new clear ones, that I love.

My car tipped over while I was putting jack stands underneath while doing my exhaust and left a dent on the muffler.

Trolley jacks are complete junk. A good wide floor jack is the only way to go.

Wow good thing it didn't tip over while you were under it. Stay safe man.
