For me it was very simple. Took about 10mins. You fill out basic demographic info, SNN#, monthly income, monthly mortgage / rent and the desired loan amount. A quick tip, before you apply, make sue you have your 17 digit VIN as that will speed the process. Also you will want a copy of the buyers order from your dealer, as they will request a copy.
Good luck.

Yes, because I added 5k in options. The car was about 32k after sales tax, doc/dmv fee, and the already agreed upon 1k markup over MSRP. I then added extended warranty/maintenance plan, gap insurance, LoJack, and PermaPlate, which are worth the investment imo, since I plan on keeping the car for a very long time.

My local credit union is offering 1.9% up to 72mo. I'm above a 720 so I'm hoping I can get it. Car costs $30.5k OTD; I'll be paying $2500-3000 out-of-pocket and financing the remainder. I expect to be right around $525/mo. I get a $237/mo (after tax) vehicle allowance from my work, so subtract that from $500 and I'm looking at $270-290/mo. for 60 months. I'm paying $232/mo for my Audi S4 now, but I just switched phone plans to cut my cell phone bill by $40/mo. and the BRZ will save me about $40/mo. on fuel over the S4, so that savings can go directly toward the car payment - those personal finance classes paid off!
Highest APR I'll go is 3.9%, otherwise I'll wait 'til next year. I've had it with getting raped on interest. The CareCredit loan I took out earlier this year to get my two front teeth crowned was TWENTY-SEVEN percent interest! I would've dealt with having busted teeth for a while had I known what the rate was gonna be - I gotta pay that motherf***er off as fast as possible! My student loans were at 11.25% but have dropped to around 4% over the past 4 years. Not to mention I don't NEED this car by any stretch of the imagination - I just REALLY want it! I can just as easily lease an Audi A4 through my work for half of what I'd pay for the BRZ, and no money down, no mileage restriction, no credit check, no paying for service, hand 'em in and get a new one every 6 months! I must be crazy for getting the Subaru

Old thread, but...
There's no need to wonder. You can just use the loan amortization spreadsheet in Excel and calculate your monthly payments. Just plug in price (after down payment), months of payments, and your APR. Play with the variables and see what you pay. As for what everyone pays... everyone's definition of "money" varies. Some people make 3%+ in monthly interest with their money stashed somewhere else, so a low APR with long financing makes sense. Others don't invest (like myself) and choose to go with as short of financing (or sometimes none). To each their own. -alex |
