FR-S in April? Dealer said so
I'm planning on getting the BRZ, but I went on to visit a Toyota/Scion Dealership asking about the FR-S after my visit at Subaru. To my surprise they said they will get one in April and someone already called. I asked them twice and two other people since I didn't believe it. I asked another guy if they were selling in April he also said yes. The BRZ will be here around May and for some reason I thought FR-S will be after. I kind of need a car asap now I'm considering the FR-S

So...you should share the name of the dealership. Otherwise you might have chaos here.

Michael Toyota Scion
Fresno, California A few reasons I say it's May A leaked brochure for employees said early May Pre-orders are usually 2 months before do you think the FR-S can be sold for more since it's limited production? also here is a leaked test server the web developer is working on for the BRZ http://proj4.boxer.subaru.com/vehicles/brz/index.html |

The BRZ is limited production apparently, and I have not heard anything about the FRS being limited.

They are probably getting one of the First 86...that's pretty much the only way they'll get "one" in April. A local dealer was picked where I am at for a First 86 which was said to arrive in April.

I agree with Alex, they might be a First 86 winning dealership.
Thanks for posting the name up though!

Main reason: exclusivity. The BRZ will command a premium because of the brand structure within Subaru now is moving upscale. Scion is much more broad and focuses on value within the Toyota family. Most visuals on interiors, trims, and packages will support my reasoning. Initially the market will show high demand and little supply for both brands. It happened with the tc for almost 2 years and has been happening to the WRX for a few years.

It was Checkered Flag Toyota/Scion in VA Beach. My brother wants the FR-S and that's what we were told when we went there.

new info from BRZ forum
Quote:
as for the limited production yeah it will be limited but yes the BRZ will be more limited Toyota did say they aren't making money on this and that is why the price will be lower. Just as they are not making money off the LFA (they were making it for 9 years that's why the price is high) they probably didn't want this 86 to turn into a 9 year project. Hiromu Naruse (died in LFA crash) was advocating the development of an inexpensive rear-wheel drive coupe. Toyota said afterwards they will now develop one (FR-S). With the death of they also said a year or so ago they're running out of money and had to change a few things about the design. |
