Stole this from another thread.

The one labeled STOP can be used as a constant 12v source.

The highlighted one labeled DRL (daytime running lights) is ignition switched. Keep in mind if you use a add-a-circuit type tap you can no longer put the fuse box cover back on.

As for the fuse tap I don't know what type it was but any AMP/mini fuse tap would work. I got a couple from Autozone.

I ordered the Greddy Multi-D/A and should have it in a couple weeks and will do the install. My guess is I'll just have to use a tap on one of the Illumination+ wires so the gauge turns on with the lights. Otherwise I could just use another 12v ignition source and leave it illuminated all the time. I wish there was a way to make it work with the dimmer switch but the wiring for that is a bit funky and wouldn't really work without cracking open the gauge.

Stupid question, but wouldnt tapping into the drl fuse mean, when ur turn on the headlights (drl goes off) ur gauge would not be illuminated?

What comes off the fuses are just the "hot" 12v power lines, there are other relays or logic devices which control whether the end destination is on or off.

You can have funky things happen depending on what wires you tap, how grounds are controlled, etc. but from one other thread someone used that one for the footwell lighting and it seemed fine.

DIY - Defi 60mm Boost Gauge Install in AC Vent

Gotcha

I was under the impression if u tapped into say.. The foglight fuse on a car, the foglight switch would toggle both the fog lights and your accessory together

I wired inline fuses to all three wires (power, illumination and gauge). Then I connected all three to one of the fuses (The defi gauge I have always needs to be lit so I did not wire the illumination separately.) that came on with the ignition.

If you look on the fuse cover in the picture above, there is a fuse between DRL and Tail. This is unused so it is perfect as it comes on with the ignition.

Also, cut a notch on the side of the cover so that you can close it up again.

If you lie on your back and look above the fuse box, you will see a silver screw that is on a body panel. I attached it there. I can take a pic tomorrow evening.

Installed my Greddy Multi-D/A gauge this weekend. The install into the vent pod was super easy. The gauge is 62mm so what I did was just use some industrial strength velco on the two flat side pieces and the gauge. It keeps everything completely snug.

Wired up the constant/ign/illumination separately since the gauge has a peak/hold function and also a shutdown sequence which requires the constant 12v. Having the 12v Illumination hooked up dims the gauge when the lights are on. Only gripe I have is the IR remote which comes with it doesn't work all that great.

Here is a crappy picture of it with the "blue" LED backlight.

What 12V Illumination source did you hook up to?

Answer IN THIS THREAD to not clutter this one.

Thanks!

This is really not Florida friendly. Ac vent in your face > boost gauge in your face.
