PSA: Do not use auto car washes
I took my BRZ to the car wash and it destroyed my roof.
I don't know if you can tell by the photo; but there are two 24 inch gouges in the roof and one lateral gouge from the bar that drug across my roof. My insurance company is fighting with the owner of the car wash and I am unsure of what the outcome is! The car wash did not even clean the car correctly! It looked like it was trying to clean a pickup truck or something, it missed the hood entirely and scraped the hell out of my roof. This is what I get for being lazy... gah! Just wash your BRZ by hand! |

Probably nothing your insurance can do about it. Most car washes have clear signs posted stating they arent responsible for damage.
Good luck on your case tho hope it works out. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using Tapatalk 2

Much prefer the topless wash but will accept touch less when it's not available

Correct me if I am wrong.. but a touchless car wash in my eyes is like pressure washing grit and dirt across your paintjob. Ouch.
The chemicals/soaps used in carwashes are also very harsh. I worked at a "touch" car wash before. The ashault was crumbling where the initial spray of soap ran off. My hands literally felt as rough and dry as sand paper. You'd imagine the chemicals at touchless car washes may be more harsh, no? But after tips, I averaged 17/hr. Who would've thought. |

+ with a good coat of wax or opticoat...all that shit should be easily and cleaned removed with no issue. If it did bother the paint probably shouldnt drive it in the rain...or snow...or light wind...in fact probably better to just not drive it.

After how long of being in service? Don't underestimate the power of just plain water flowing into cracks and crevices and doing damage over time.

To the OP: Are your scratches through the paint? If not, you can probably talk the owner into paying for a complete detailing job and then never see that jerk again. |
