Valenti rear fog alternate wiring

I ordered the valenti smoked rear fog light from modbargains.com to match the valenti tails. They were extremely helpful with the order, and shipped on the same day that my order was processed. After receiving the order I contacted modbargains for help regarding an alternate wiring setup to have the V and the LED triangle function seperately. They were nice enough to send back step by step instructions to get it to function exactly as I wanted. Overall it was a great experience and Im very thankful for their help! I think that having the V function without the LED triangle gives a much cleaner look!

The setup below functions as follows:

V on with headlights
LED triangle lights up when brake is depressed with no flashing
Reverse- no changes

headlights on:

brake depressed:

night:

Instructions:

1. Remove 10 phillips screws from the back of the light.
2. you will see a dark blue wire connecting the V to the LED triangle
3 Remove the blue wire from where its connected to the red wire
- I just cut the wire and left some of the blue hanging there
4. Locate the orange/black wire that goes to a single red wire. This is connected to the LED triangle where "Rev" is written
5. Disconnect the orange/black connecter
6. Leave the orange/black wire alone, it will still be connected to the LED triangle but will not function.
7 Remove connector from the single red wire
8. Connect the single red wire to the blue wire with connector/soldering iron
9. Put the back cover back on.
10. Follow the installation instructions on modbargains website with the important exception that the LIGHT BLUE wire will now connect to the brake (red wire going to tails) and the single red wire will connect to the running lights (blue wire going to tails)

Wiring: The blue wire has been cut from where it originally connected to the red, linking it to the LED triangle. It has been soldered to another blue wire (that modbargains was nice enough to provide) and then connected to what I was referring to above as the "single red wire". This will connect to the blue wire going to the tails.

The red wire seen in the picture controls the LED triangle, and becomes a light blue wire (not in pic), this will connect to your brake (red wire going to tails)

The orange and black wire has been disconnected and I left it just hangin there

Hooking into tail lights (red goes to blue, blue goes to red)

Pics would be nice. Great work on doing this wiring. I was looking to do this too but couldn't figure out the exact steps.

I used a connector for the Single Red (previously Orange/Black) to cut Blue wire, the one between the light bar and triangle.

I don't know much about wiring, but I did not see the need to solder the cut Blue wire to the ModBargains provided Blue wire and then solder that to the Single Red wire, so I left it alone, and it seems to be working fine - again though, I am not an electrician by any stretch of the imagination!

For those of you that have Green and Green/Yellow wires instead of the Blue, Red, Yellow, and Black wires for your taillights, here's how I did mine, with Blue to Green and Red to Red:

Turned out great!

Note: while this works, it seems like you give up the F1 function for the chance to use the light bar and the triangle separately, one as a brake and the other as a parking light. @Phaedrus29 has indicated in this post that it might still be able work though!

I like the looks of it, and thanks for the effort you put in making a DIY. However over here you would probably have the car impounded if you drive with the lights wired like this. Its a shame, as i really looks nice :-(

@ModBargains.com, For Curiosity sake:

How about a setup with functions as follows:
1. -v- ON with Park Lights ON but not the LED triangle
2. LED triangle lights up only when brake is depressed WITH flashing
3. Usual Reverse Lights.

Haha that's easy to do. I'll help you make that happen if you want, or the OP understands how to make that happen, so i'm sure the OP will help as well.

If you read my post properly, what I'm looking for is:
- LED triangle lights up ONLY when brake is depressed WITH flashing.

it's WITH the Flashing or F1 Light Function upon breaking.

what is stated above is NO Flashing...
