lol. i guess opinions are different. i feel like they did very well to make the 3 criteria happen.
the fun part has yet to be determined by the consumers, but most reviews point to yes. avg mpg of ~25 is good compared to ~20 for evo, sti, s2000, rx8 affordable? ehh but compared to ~$35k for evo and sti. i think $30k for rx8. and s2000 isn't made anymore just my thought |

I'm still getting one but after all the hype, the end result is actually quite ordinary. It's a good car but it's not any kind of price/performance revolution like we were being led to believe. It just ended up being Subaru Miata Coupe - cool, slow but fun and overpriced. |

Here's my favorite quotes:
Bwhaha, have fun carving it up in your Passat, "Even then, the GT is no acceleration miracle. 7.6 seconds from 0 to 100 kph - this creates a VW Passat." Bustin' der rhymes, "...just a philistine still no athlete." I couldn't have said it better myself, "...a decent car on the wheels." Honestly I love negative reviews just to balance out all of the positive reviews going on, and to get more objectivity, but it has to be from someone who knows what they're talking about; who isn't spoiled by Porsche, BMW and autobahns. |

Well, this will become the SOLE review done on this car as far as the haters are concerned. It will be cited ad nauseum as how horrifically bad the car is and how we're all fanboys who know nothing about cars.

The thing about this car is that it was kinda meant to be like a painters blank canvas. Basically they wanted to give us an affordable lightweight RWD platform. An EXCELLENT platform to start with. Then once we buy the car, it's totally up to us to make the car what we want it to be. Do or do not add more power. It's the buyer's call. It's your picture to paint. This is how they should have approached their critique of this vehicle imo.

i know we are all kinda joking here... but i have been starting to think negatively about the BRZ as well.. i mean, when i see 0-60 times in the 7 second range i get worried. i mean, sure it corners well... but hey, what wouldn't when its going that slow?
i guess i am having second thoughts on this. anyone else feel the same?

Still have to test drive. But in the numbers sense it's really not starting to add up.

I think you have to take that 7.2 0-60 with a gain of salt considering MT did 6.4 while IL did the 7.2 thats a huge difference so the car is capable of a much faster 0-60 given a more abusive lanuch (I mean if you care about 0-60 you should be giving it anyways) Another important thing to factor in is tyre choice. I mean low resistance tyres regardless if they are optional JDM Pirus ones aren't really the best choice for fast numbers I think given a good lanuch with better tires should get you in the low-mid 6 no problem

My Civic SI ('02) gets 0-60 in 7.5 (more like high 7's) and my old Civic SI ('00) was low 7's, and there's no way that a car with 40 more HP and RWD and same weight would be just as slow. |
