So.. why not buy one that has been modified as little as possible and then restore it? Surely parts are still available?

The thought has passed my mind on buying a relatively un-screwed with Si and taking it as far back to OEM as possible.

Just like you see "Fully Restored" cars at Mecum auctions on TV. I wonder which cars, from my high school era of growing up, will be worth anything in another 20 years or so!

And I cant wait for the 25 years to import some Nissan Skylines thanks to that Bill Gates car bill, for his and Paul Allen's 959, that allows you to bring cars into the country that are at least 25 years old and drive them on and register them for US roads.

The show and display rule allows you to import cars the are rare (so under 1000 Produced), The car doesn't have to be 25 years old. Problem with this rule is that you are only allowed to drive the car 3000 miles a year and second you need to prove that there were less that 1000 made.

Skyline with production of 1000 or less are

- R32 Nismo (500)
- R32 N1 (around 250)
- R33 LM (98)
- R33 N1 (around 400 but Nissan didn't keep a count so no way of proving it)
- R33 400R (67 but so expensive and hard to find that your better off getting a R34)
- R33 Autech Sedan (887)
- R33 Autech 400R (1... its for sale right now in Japan!)
- R34 M-spec (200)
- R34 M-spec Nur (250)
- R34 V-spec Nur (750
- R34 N1 (20 will never find or afford one)
- R34 Z tune (19 forget about it!)

The 25 year old rule allows you to import anything you want!

There are, you just have to keep an eye out. Buddy just bought a bone stock 95 Si that's been sitting in a barn for the past few years. Besides the mold and dirt, it's a completely OEM car.

Chasing Classic Cars is one of my favorite shows.

That old dude he has working in that garage is Worth So Much MONEY. As for working on brand new cars, who cares? But that old dude can get Dusenberg thats been sitting in a barn for the past 50 years working just by using a Monkee Wrench. I wonder how many people Wayne is going to have to hire just to replace him when he retires. And the funny thing about the whole way of things is, is that old Mechanic use to own that place, is good friends with Wayne's father and is supposedly retired! But he still comes in everyday.

To me for someone who knows his shit and can all different makes and models and what not, he is easily worth 6 Figures.

I bet in 10 years, it will almost as impossible to find an unmolested FT86 in America.

Basically F&F opened the Pandora's Box that is the aftermarket industry and anything that's sporty or fun will have a mountain of aftermarket garbage available for it.

Check Craigslist.

I sold my '90 Si on CL that I bought new and owned for 16 excellent years, I never did much to it other than drive the hell out of it. Was all stock other than a boomin system from the 90's:
Name: 90si.jpg

Had lots of people on CL interested in it, ended up selling it to some kid who probably molested it by now heheh, hope he enjoys it as much as I did...

I think the fact that I drove that so long and it only had 110hp is what makes me have fun with the power of the stock 86.

Lovely, even have the stock wheels. Those stock wheels are BEYOND rare, that is when they are attached to an actual car!

I would, if I bought it, take some time and do a rebuild.

Where is the water pump on those Civic engines. Behind the serpatine belt cover?
