FT-86 the return of the Celica?
I just saw a 2002-2004 red Celica in a parking lot. My first impression was FT-86. I looked and looked and all I could see was FT-86. It makes sense to me why Toyota wants to use a Subaru rear drive. The Toyota car line up is FWD. Lexus is the RWD cars. To make a Toyota RWD would make it a Lexus and dilute the brand and could create confusion in the brand.
Wanting to create a RWD for the drift market and not making it a Lexus meant going to another maker without a Luxury brand. The FT-86 is shorter wheel base from the Subaru and more in line with the Celica. Subaru's engine and drive train is up to the task of more HP and after market modifications. It looks like a perfect fit for Toyota and the rebirth of a Celica. |

this probably isn't the best way to introduce my self to yea...
but you got it totally all wrong no... the scion tc was "supossed" to be the new celica. has any one heard that? scion derived from the term zion which mean rebirth... the the tc was supossed to emulate toyota celica... lol idk, just adding to the mayhem! lol and hello fellow ft fans!!! ha ha

This thread is completely pointless as there's already a well established "Naming" thread. I think this can be deleted. Oh and as White Comet said, "What the fuck?"

To the best of my knowledge, the Scion tC was never designed to be a new Celica... I think that's a conclusion made by some Scion fans, but not something thought of by Toyota. |

b) Lexus is sold worldwide. The Soarer, Altezza, Celsior, Windom & Aristo ceased to exist a couple years ago (~2006) c) The tC attempted to fill a void that the last Celica left, but it really was a much different type of car than the gen 7....or any other celica for that matter. It's more akin to a dull, lifeless gen 6..and that only because the US never got the GT4 version. |
