You're looking for the RC version of the 86. Does not include the oil cooler or the extra HP/TQ but it's quiet stripped down.

I will get the windows and dash fixed and I plan to put something else in the car at this point.
Sorry to hear about all that.

The cricket thing I think happens to everyone and there is no fix. They pulled the TSB on it and won't replace the pump any more. I also have the window noise (only when wet), need to get that fixed along with the weather strip. The interior rattling never really bothered me much, either I don't have it too bad or I have the radio on too loud.

That clutch issue does sound odd. That isn't an issue I have. I think I read some things about weird clutch noises, but I'm sure you have done the same.

FR-S/ BRZ: 25-30K. Most of that money goes toward the chassis, RWD, suspension, engine, well-layed out driving position, etc etc. Very little went towards creature comforts.

Other 25K-30K cars. Most of that money went towards creature comforts with VERY LITTLE investment in the chassis and handling dept.

Which car do you want? Can't have it both ways. Accept it for what it is.

Put a little bit (2oz) of ashless, two stroke oil in when you fill up (I use the kind for outboard engines). After a few tanks, the crickets will go away, for the most part. I started back in December and they hardly ever come back, and when they do, it's not for long.

Yeah seeing how I use my car now, I probably would have opted for that version if they sold it here for around $23k.

Then added a clutch-type LSD, BBK, JRSC, oil-cooler, RCE T2, and tires/wheels. Would be a killer track setup for ~$35k.

Every car will have its little quirks.

But generally speaking I feel like they did cheap out on the FR-S materials and design, even compared to other sub $30k cars.

If they had invested just a little bit more in such a few places it would have made a dramatic difference.

Stereo - either a 89' style ugly head unit or a worthless BeSpoke both paired with sh!tty speakers

Instrument cluster - for a sports car to be missing out on essential gauges was a big mistake. At least give us a on oil temp and/or oil pressure guage for chrissakes!!!

A tad more sound insulation. Personally I did not mind it all that much when I was by myself. Anyone who rode with me hated my car as it was loud as heck and hard to communicate or if we listened to the radio we had to turn it up loud enough to highlight how crappy and distorted the radio and speakers were.

Keyless start? At least in the FR-S on release series.
But I have a question for you about the Vette. How much people are complaining about the quality and stuff on their forums? I know the C7 can't be near perfect and it costs more than double the money. I'm sure there are guys over there who is fed up like EvoMike and stuff. I'm also sure there's guys complaining on every platform about quality regardless of how much they have spent.

I'm probably one of a few guys on here who is a complete virgin to the car scene. Compared to my 15 year old box, the Twins are a damn good upgrade.

I shall embrace all the stuff that are listed in this thread and elsewhere. Yes, even those crickets.

(Exception would be car payments. Bleh.)

And most of these problems I had on my '02 WRX, purchased brand new from the dealer. Interior rattles, frameless windows squeaking and eventually leaving scratches where the pad inside the door slid, cheap plastic interior, etc... The car was a whole lot of fun, but the it was an economy car interior on a fun drivetrain, so that's where the focus was.

If that box was 29 years old and a hatchback, I'd consider it an upgrade from the twins.

I went from a 96 4Runner with 150K miles and so many issues that I rebuilt it to this. I love it.

Now my brother loves the 4Runner hand me down because he didn't have to pay for it
