Is the flywheel indexed? NOT keyed, right?!?

Getting ready to put my '13 FR-S back together w/ new clutch and flywheel.

I saw a lotta vids and read lots of stuff, and at least one source said the flywheel is keyed. "It looks like it's not, but it is".

I agree that it looks like it is NOT keyed or indexed in any way. I do not see any form of key, keyway, or index mark. On the old OEM flywheel, or my new OEM Exedy.

Any specific positioning? Marked or indicated by....??

Any info appreciated.
Thanks;
Alan

The only indexing it has is the bolts to align it on the crank. No specific position orientation.

On some older cars the flywheel was balanced to the crank, so it had to go on a certain way. But all manufacturers learned a long time ago that if you balance them separately it is a lot easier to assemble and repair.

The crank position reluctor is keyed to the crank but not the flywheel. It's possible to install it backward. Make sure the teeth face inward towards the block. See link to service manuals in my sig line. Not my stuff but it's great.
