Subwoofer Enclosure

Hey everyone, this may be a dumb question but I figured there would be some experts in here. I'm looking to get a sub for my FRS, nothing crazy like 2 15's but a good 8 or a 10 just to fill out the sound and add some excitement to my music. However I'm a hockey player so I need my trunk as accessible as possible.. Is there any enclosures/boxes that don't take up trunk space? ie. under a seat, spare tire compartment etc. Hopefully someone can help me out, thanks for looking!

There's no room under the seat. Some people have done fiberglass enclosures in the spare tire well, but I don't think there's a manufactured product out there for it. If you had a shallow mount 8, you could probably glass in a box in the back seat side panel; there's a fair amount of room in there.

there is this i have not tried it. but a single 8 in an enclosure you build can be very small. i have favor in 2 different speakers for this depending on budget.

this one is pricey but its very nice.

these are cheaper and still really nice.
both would do what you want with out trouble given the right box

You can build yourself a custom one in place of the spare tire, that is what I did. I don't think a company makes one for that location yet though.

I have an OEM+ Audio System with the passender side subwoofer and I play hockey. My bag fits - its tight but it definately fits. Sticks upfront on the passenger side. Unless you are a goalie, I think you will be ok with a side subwoofer.

Haven't seen anyone else do this yet, but aside from my half a$$ed attempt to dress it up I'm pleased with the results

Backseat was useless for me anyway, leaves one backseat for emergencies and the trunk folds flat.

I removed to rear seat bottom, wired up the power to the amp, tapped into the rear stock amp for line signal and used Velcro strips to attach the amp to the seat floor.

The sub box fits over top of the amp, strapped in using ratchet straps (for safety in case of accident). Then covered everything with fabric and foam underneath. Last part could use some refining.

Sounds great to me, really fills in the sound and can be heard outside the car if you push it. Also seems to sound louder/deeper with the seats down or windows down, probably due to more air volume.

I'm not sure exactly sure what your price range is and exactly what your looking for or your DIY level. But...

There's the JL Steathbox which is pricey but comes with the shallow mount woofer in a side mounted box.

There are also these JL subs that you could make your own custom enclosure for.

8" JLW3v3
6" JLW3v3

I'm having mine built into the spare well on Monday. But before I decided to switch it up, I had this. If you're DIY friendly, then you can build the box to fit in the side space of the trunk and it takes up very little room. I had plenty of trunk space left.

I have a 10" enclosed in a custom box in place of my spare tire. Sound is ok but the install was done prior to me purchasing the car. I'm more interested in dropping the 50lbs so it will be coming out real soon.
