I think this was the same magnitude as that one. Definitely excitingly! Haha. Probably my first earthquake that I’ve felt in years. I usually just sleep through them. Did the same during the Northridge earthquake in the 90s lol.

FR-S is having some electrical gremlins lately. I sometimes hear a double-click when turning on the ignition and whenever I turn the ignition on or off, all my stuff shuts down immediately (dash cam and aftermarket radio).

Worst thing that happened was that my car lost all electrical power when attempting to start it, and when I attempted to check the battery connections, I hear electrical power again.

Also had the brake light and power steering lights flash on for a few seconds (at different days). Really hope this isn't something that's going to cost me.

Sounds like a grounding issue. Did you take the cables off the posts and clean them? Has your ground to the bell housing been off for any reason?

That sucks! I would check every connection. On your battery, fuses, ground wires, etc. Make sure everything has a solid connection. You may find that it is a weak connection or a partially blown fuse. (yes, it is a thing)

Also, a failing battery will cause weird things to happen.

I hope you figure this out. I have had electrical issues on my car a couple different times. It can be very frustrating.

Good Luck!

Sounds like my beater hunting rig Xterra. The ground lug for the battery was too loose and the stereo would quit, occasionally when I would turn it off and go to restart it would try to crank and then completely lose all power. As a quick fix I just added a couple solder spots on the inside of the lug

I wish I had a multimeter to test it with, but I have suspected the battery was failing. Kind of hoping it isn't, because I don't want to pay unnecessary expenses.

Didn't know that partially blown fuses were a thing. I'll definitely check for those.

Forgive my ignorance; I'm actually unfamiliar with what you're referring to as the bellhousing (first thing that pops up in my mind is the tranny bellhousing). Can you elaborate on this?

As far as the cables go, no, not yet, but I'll make it a point to buy some supplies to clean the terminals after work.

Also forgot to mention that I have a horn harness directly connected to the positive terminal (has a fuse though). Would this have affected my battery in any way?

My son I think is same.

My son has a picture of the 15 guys in his advanced sniper school class. 6 made it back from Afghanistan. I think that is one of the reasons he doesn't like to talk about it, or be thanked. He witnessed lots of death. I'm just glad he made it back, and is mentally ok.

The tranny bell housing is correct. There is a heavy ground wire attached to it that has been an issue for a few here

Well other than the roll over at the end that is pretty much exactly what happened.

I wouldn't say it's a grounding issue, per se... I would definitely let maintenance know about it though.
