Do you mean the oem filter felt better, or the K&N felt better?

Installing the k&n killed my top end. Before the filter I was able to do 127mph at the end of fifth gear and pull to 140 in 6th and not hit redline... I put that k&shit and it won't pull shit passed 106 in 5th...

Pulled that crap out and used it to clean my boots at work...

86 is my dream car...

AFM sensor contamination is definitely on the cards over time if it is oiled cotton.

As long as you don't over-oil, its a non-issue

I had one in my Tacoma 4x4 and it did burn out my AFM sensor. The oil and dust from the dirt roads coated the sensor. I went back to a Fram filter. I got one anyway for my FRS. I paid $38 on Amazon. I'm not driving on any dirt roads and I don't plan to clean and reoil it. That might have been my problem, over oiling it. I will buy a new one when it gets dirty or a different intake when the best intake on the market is figured out.
I received it today and I did notice (just like my Truck)
• RPM’s Rev more freely
• Power band ‘feels’ smoothed out
• Acceleration is achieved quicker
• A ‘slight’ increase in suction sound

Tons of great drop in's out there and in stock with lots of places. Simplest way to gain some throttle response.

Wrong!

Most of the K&N 's are over oiled from the factory.

Check your intake after a week. Then take out the MAF.

I did, after three weeks actually and 1500 miles. No oil anywhere.

You are probably right. I opened my filter today from the box. It had excessive oil in the rubber frame and the whole thing felt wet of oil. I will let it dry in air for some days before I install it.

$40 is a cheap bet if there are 1 or 2 ponies there on top.

Has anyone tried the TRD filter part MS155-00009?

It is NZ$135, (or converted on our price to A$104, US$108) so quite a bit more expensive (like most TRD stuff). Might be cheaper at your local suppliers but $135 here in NZ.
