That size is pretty common, xd9s come in that size and fit fine.

Yup haven't noticed any difference really. Been on a few spirited drives.

I have read much of this thread and others concerning wheels, fitment, and suspension, but though I have learned much from you all, I don't have any practical experience. My Question is:

Given that, the desired wheel diameter is 17 inches front and rear, and the desired wheel widths are 9inches front and 10inches rear, besides needing to switch to coil overs, what other modifications to suspension and ideal range settings for height and camber would work best for trying to stay as close to factory ride height as possible?

Also, what would be the optimal/ideal range of offset for a deep dish style wheel for the best performance?

First of all, 17x9 and 17x10 wheels are rare. They are only going to come in specific offsets, or will be custom ordered with whatever offset is desired. Either way, you should find a wheel you like and go from there.

If you choose RPF1, if you can find them, they will be +35 or +45 front and +38 rear.

If you choose custom wheels like forgestar, you can choose the offset. Or better yet, you tell the manufacture what you want and they choose the "perfect offset" for you!

Now, tires. Staggering 17's sucks. You can't get 35 series. So you have to go bigger on the front to match. If you go 245/45 front you can go 275/40 rear for the same OD. Stock Diameter is 24.62". 245/45/17 is 25.68" or a 4.2% difference. the rule of thumb is to stay within 3% or less.

Here is a tire calculator. use it to find tires that are as close to the same OD (outside diameter) and different widths.

Thank you! The wheels are going to be custom so any offset within reason will be available. Thank you for the wheel calculator link. So with the 4.2% difference being >greater than the "under 3% rule" is why you are going with 18's because 17's don't come in 35's but only 25's and 45's, is this correct?

Going with 9" fronts and 10" rears, what's the closest to stock drop and camber that can be run without hitting any of the break line brackets or other parts inside the wheel well if we use the offsets for the RPF1's from your example above 35 offset front and 38 offset rear?

Ah Ha...not the 1980's band, the light bulb in my mind went off after I went to your link and put in OEM tires on one side and plugged in 275/45/r17's compared with 275/35/r18's:

The rear tires using the 17's would be traveling at 70mph when your speedometer was reading 65mph, were as using the 18's at 35 sidewall the difference is halved at only 67.5mph actual while speedometer is reading 65


and using 25's on sidewall with 17's goes the other way significantly....good call on the 18's...now I hope my custom shop will be able to make 18's in the style I want, hahaha

Gramlights57FXX, I believe.

It's not quite the 57fxx... the spokes are not as curved and center caps seem off. Those are usually silver or red. I have the 57fxx in silver with red centercaps

18x9.5+38 square
Front tires are 225 40
Rear tires are 255 35

They look very similar to these BBS SL rims but they don't sell the same colors. I'm not sure if they are the brand. I don't think they are the 57fxx either. Still looking for them if anyone knows.
