Congrats on your move and welcome to NorCal (Cupertino). Before you know it, you'll have plenty of ops to meet folks (up to 3 meets a week within an 1hr's drive) and plenty enough of shops/tuners that you start playing favorites. But don't, they all are competent to get the job done. Cupertino's in the neighborhood of the Wed evening meet/dinner.

Hehe, oddly though not surprising all 3 of the California teams outmatch the leafs lol... so much for hockey country being Canada I'll still bring my leafs hat with me though, and my blue jays hat. I'm actually looking forward to going to see a few Sharks games, maybe I can afford to see a game in person for once lol!

There's apparently quite a few canucks working in my department, that will be cool

Speed Element is a good shop, you can go check them out as well. They are in South Bay, so close to you as well. From my knowledge, there are weekly meets in South Bay as well on Wednesday!
Thanks! How do you like it there?
I will check out Speed Element, and hopefully when things settle in a week or two come out and join the meets. Thanks for the help

As for local meets, get in touch with the Norcal 86 folks. Here is a weekly one: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=50749

There are a few events coming up that could be a good ice breaker!
Awesome thanks!

I'd recommend ordering everything from @FT-86 SpeedFactory, free shipping on orders over $250 and great customer service. Everything gets over here in 5 days, I've ordered stuff on Fri/Weekends - ships Monday and I get the new toys by Friday afternoon.

As for installs I've taken my stuff to Neal @WiebTech Performance . Drive up with the parts in your trunk and drive back with parts installed = FUN x infinity!

Oh and before I forget congrats on the job at Apple!!! I would love to work there in their iAd dept. you lucky son of a gun!

Cya Around!
I've been jealous of Americans because they got FT86Speedfactory without needing to pay shipping and border duties, so I definitely will order a few things from them.

As far as installing parts, I've always had the luxury of having my own house and garage to install things in, but I don't think I will be so fortunate when renting down here so I will check out Wiebtech, thanks for the tip.

Thanks! I'll be working for the iPhone team doing mechanical design, looking forward to the challenge

Oh crap, that reminds me... need to organize the caravan for the South Bay folks
Where did you move from? I noticed you're in Santa Clara, what made you move there instead of right in Cupertino? Just curious because I still haven't decided on a place to stay yet, though the prices in Cupertino are crazy so I've been thinking of looking outside of the city.

I recommend Gooyi Gooyi for Korean BBQ, it is my favorite in the area. See you on the streets and maybe at Thunderhill too!

Haha, didn't know what boba was, I had to google it. We call it Bubble Tea here, but maybe theres a difference between the two. I will check them out thanks for the recommendations.

And mmmm Korean BBQ sounds delish.

We moved from Orlando, FL. We chose Santa Clara because it is still close to Apple (3~4 miles) and because it was the first available apartment in the size that we wanted. Prices will be crazy anywhere within 10 miles of Cupertino. You could go to East Bay but then you would have to contend with crazy traffic on your daily commute.

So, do you want crazy rent and home prices or do you want crazy traffic commutes? For my sanity, I chose the former.

and yet we took 2 of 3 on the Cali roadtrip this year. And then of course crapped the bed after that. There's always next year

I am actually from Santa Clara myself , great place .

It's close to many things like mentioned before and commute is not to bad !

Downsides are that you usually leave Santa Clara to do stuff in the evening (few things to do once you have done majority of what's there) but I don't mind since that gives reason to explore !

Boba , bubble tea , all the same !

And you definitely must go to a few Sharks games ! Go Sharks !!

Vishnu Tuning is in the east bay, not SF. Not a big difference relatively speaking, though. Welcome to the area. If you have kids and need tutoring, I'm your man.

~Welcome to the Bay and enjoy your stay! Remember to incorporate "hella" into your lexicon, it'll allow you to blend in with other "Bay Destrians" haha.
