I expected a car that looked amazing, that I could dump a ton of money into to make it fast. Unfortunately they butchered the car. I forgot that it was toyota/scion, I should've known better

Why don't you just keep your Z06 then? The FR-S will never be a straight-line car [DUH!]. It'd be like buying a Miata and expecting to kill at the dragstrip.

It's certainly toned down from the concepts - but they even said at the auto show that the concept represented what an owner might do to mod this car - so everyone should pretty much expect a "blank slate" with good engineering under it so you can modify the cosmetics to taste with aftermarket. That said, I hope the final production version has *some* pizazz to it - maybe a "sport appearance package" with ground effects or something - so we don't have to wait for aftermarket support (poor fitting issues, etc).
