Parts Shop Max subframe and differential risers

i think i remember seeing an install guide on these and they were cutting the subframe to get it even closer to the frame.

I bought mine from parts by max website. They shipped from SoCal. I installed them last week. I don't mind the noise but your going to hear your rearend gear whine and clunking when you shift.

Where did you get them installed at? And how much did it run you? Thinking about getting these since my car is sitting fairly low.

So just for my own info, how extreme does the lowering have to be to require this treatment?

I was under the impression, hopefully not wrong impression, that anything up to 50mm (2") was fine with the axles and tail/drive shaft of these cars.

I'm lowering my 86 25mm on coil-overs and if this is best practise or even advisable, when lowering a pissy 1", forget it!!!

Also;

Forgive me if this is a stupid question but how does this affect the front end of the car, specifically the the rake, braking, anti dive, geometry, weight balance, etc?

Isn't there going to be nose up effect, even minor, when this is done to the rear and not the front?

Is the difference so minimal it has no effect? Doesn't every action have an equal and opposite reaction?

Again apologies if this has been mentioned or explained and I've missed it.

I installed mine myself. Its not that hard. Im only 30mm or so lowered. I didn't use the top spacers I used an angle grinder with a flap wheel to get the top of the sub-frame bushing hole flush with the solid sub frame bushings/risers, and used high quality epoxy on all new bushings the fit was very tight on two and just dropped in on the other two, so I just bonded them all in. They did increase the noise in the car you can hear the ring and pinion gear spinning. Sounds like a supercharger in your trunk.

They are shipped from SoCal location if i remember right.

If you are on coilovers they are adjustable you can set up your stance however you want. They make the rear feel more planted, you get more feedback, they help reduce axle angle, they keep the rear sub frame in a locked position for consistent handling. the stock rubber bushings are soft and flex under load which I didn't like.

i was looking at these to compensate for even lower ride height i was going to achieve with PBM LCA's. but not too fond of the "solid" and after what I read that it increases NVH.

Is there alternative solution to raising the Diffs and Sub-frame to correct the angle of the axles?

@Zer0 it's a shame other suppliers don't.. i suppose radio can get louder..
but that was my solution to dailying my civic..mod after mod radio getting louder and louder
which is another reason why I haven't gone with a aftermarket exhaust either..

I know I was half way joking. My car is going to be far from comfortable. If you want a daily comfortable car I can see not wanting this. I don't mind the extra noise so I went for it. Definitely build it for you and your goals don't compromise what you want from your car. I wouldn't.

haha yeah.. but in this game I can't seem to get my ways without any some sort of compromise.. don't want a busted axle on the side of the highway ...

might still look cool hella slammed while doing it but..

Does the actual complex upgrade require BOTH subframe and diff risers?

Trying to understand which one I need to lower the axles stress due to the angle since dropped (-35mm / 1,5 in)

I did the subframe and diff risers you might as well do them both and get the max benefits all at once.

25mm would be nothing for it, 50mm should still be fine, the lower you go and harder you drive the more chance of breaking an axle.
Same as more power + lowered = more chance.

Hasn't seemed to have affected the handling on mine, still sits flat, had to adjust the coilovers to keep it that way though.
If anything, the car handles better now I have done it.
But the car handles way better now than stock anyway.
