you dont rely on it, you use it as a tool. Now you can use it or not that's on the rider.

It usually results in trucks and BMWs go WOT around me lol and I'm not even racing them lol.
Being that low in the revs does reduce available power though, so I have to downshift if I need to speed up quickly. However, there are times were I just cruise in 3rd or 4th to keep the revs up higher and listen to that exhaust with the windows down, and that's fun too. Mostly I'm trying not to be a gas guzzler though so the higher the gear, the better. That's just me though.

TLDR; depends on my mood. High gear and low revs when I'm not trying to attract attention or douchebags. Low gear and high revs when I'm trying to enjoy my car to the fullest.
The TRD exhaust isn't that loud, and you aren't driving an accord with a fartcan. This thing looks like it's supposed to make a little noise. You aren't going to disturb anyone shifting at 3-3.5k. Honestly, the only time the TRD exhaust is exceptionally loud is on cold starts in the morning. It makes my neighbour's dog bark every time.

I'd imagine this engine wants a mix of both.

Shift light is set at 6900 and that's where I shift until I reach a few MPH over the speed limit. Then I just row through the rest if I need to cruise. On back roads, I keep them up as much as possible by staying in a lower gear. You're not going to wear your car out, that's what it was designed to do. If you're not driving it this way you might as well have bought a Corolla.

I'm usually shifting at 3k for normal driving, getting on the highway or overtaking people ill push it up to 4k. Still in the break in period so I haven't gone past 4k... Much.

I started off using 5th gear at around 45 mph, but lately I've only been using it at highway speeds, and keeping to 4th or lower around town. I guess I'm getting addicted to the growl, and I'm still just running the stock exhaust.

This car likes the revs. BTW, I've posted elsewhere, but my Unichip really seems to have leveled out the torque dip. I'm tempted to remove it temporarily just to double check and see if it makes as much difference as I seem to remember.

I think your question can be answered if you consider which is causing more wear on the engine components. Admittedly it would take a long time to show up but, in the end, the engine that has turned the most rpm's is likely to sustain more wear and tear than the engine that has turned less rpm's. Of course that's my opinion and we all have one.

If im being conservative I shift around 2.5k but normally around 3-3.5. I usually cruise around town in 5th at like 35-37mph. I also skip from 3rd to 5th gear alot around town.

Anyone ever mess with the shift/gear indicator? Damn thing wants you in 6th by like 30mph lol
