That is true. Smart players who want to be great study film and apply 'what works' to their own game, even if it's taking a page out of someone else's book.

As for Lebron James, he has a god given body to have the talent and ability to dominate the game of basketball. He lacks the finesse of players like kobe and jordan, but he doesn't really need it.

1. Isaiah Thomas
2. Kobe Bryant
3. Dr. J
4. LeBron James
5. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar

I think they would give MJ's top 5 a run for their money.

All players in their prime.

Why do you guys think Jordan didn't pick either LeBron or Kobe? Being that those two are the clear frontrunners to be in the convo for greatest of all time.

If I were to guess, I'd say it's because he didn't wanna stroke their ego.

because as far as team play goes kobe isnt needed as i dont think he fits in as well as magic or pippen and obviously jordan isnt taking kobe over himself. lebron is a monster in size and talent but not in tenacity. hes not better than anybody jordan chose. hes not a killer and i cant see him looking good against pippen who is probably the most underrated player in the history of sports.

I understand why some people don't like LeBron, whether its because of the decision or him just being a rival player. What I don't understand is where the "hater" logic comes from. He's dubbed as not being clutch in big games, being terrible in last second shots, ect. Where does all this come from?

I did a little research and came up with this:

----------------PPG RPG APG FG%
Regular Season 27.6 7.3 6.9 49
Playoffs ---------28 8.6 6.7 47.2
Facing Elimination 31.5 10 6.4 46.4

Now, for the obligatory comparison to Jordan. Here’s how James’ numbers stack up to Jordan’s when facing elimination.

-------------PPG RPG APG FG%
LeBron James 31.5 10 6.4 46.4
Michael Jordan 31.3 7.9 7 44.5

Both MJ and James have very similar stats and some may even argue the James was better in those type of games. James currently has a 7-6 record in elimination games while Jordan finished his career under .500 at 6-7. But we say LeBron isn't clutch.

Lastly, I will add these career number and throw Kobe in the mix:

Jordan: 30-6-5 and 27.91 PER (1st NBA history)
Lebron: 28-7-7 and 27.65 PER (2nd NBA history)
Kobe: 26-5-5 and 23.41 PER (19th NBA history)

Number's don't lie, perception does.

i think the numbers are more misleading than perception because while being more objective, they arent as inclusive. the league has been changing the way the game is played. adding a restricted area, taking away hand checking and much of the physical defending, pretty much allowing illegal screens, carry overs and travels give todays players a huge offensive advantage.

on another note, is there a single lockdown defender in the league anymore?

i dont hate lebron, i just dont think he would survive in the league 10-15 years ago.
