I would verify all the reservoir caps are tight, brake, clutch, oil cap/filter etc. Probably not the culprit, but no reason to not rule them out..

OK so... was at my trailer today and going in the door I noticed a bunch of black dots that looked JUST LIKE THAT!
Came back and Googled "insect droppings"
And low and behold ................

Can't say yes with 100% confidence but sure as hell looks like it doesn't it!
Now I feel bad for ignoring the guys that already said insect/spider poop! Maybe a spider is looking for the crickets it can hear or the noise is right on the mating call? (jokes people I know not true so don't want an emontology lesson)

Except that for those to be insect droppings on the underside of his hood, the insects would have to be defying gravity when they shit.

Dude they are BUGS! They can crap however they want!
Actually they sort of but up against a surface and pile it up not drop a load like we do so gravity means nothing to them.
I learned more about bug shit in the last few hours then in all my years of school!
