Its weird your button works without a delay.

Before the module switch I couldn't illuminate hill assist light with the techstream, after the abs switch techstream will illuminate it.

The hill assist is fantastic with my touchy clutch.
Some people said they stalled it more with hill assist. The harder you push on the brakes the harder it holds when you take off. If you just apply the minimum force its really smooth, sometimes I don't even notice its working.

I can’t remember if my ebrake was pulled when trying to activate it.

My traction control button behaving different is suggesting there is another difference. Maybe it’s the cluster? Does the switch wire go directly into the ABS module or does it do through something else?

My car is a 13 BRZ, virtually stock.
What’s the year of yours? Any other relevant electrical mods besides the cluster?

Interesting. Maybe it’s a delay in the cluster showing the light? Can you try short pressing the button and see if it comes on after a few secs?

After some careful evaluation in a wet empty private parking lot I’ve come to believe this mod does not change the VSC Logic to the 2017 track mode. The limits feel the same as before. The logic change must be in another module.

2017 abs module on 16 down

The part number on top of the module is 27536ca040. How much coding was involved with the cluster? That might affect things too. Seller on eBay said it’s from a 2017 MT. It must be from a 2017+ because otherwise the repin would have caused the wheel sensor and VSC button to not work.

2017 abs module on 16 down

That switch kit is clever, I like it! Is the oil temp gauge functional?

My 2013 unit is 27536CA002, the new unit is 27536CA040. Looking at used units on eBay, that puts it in the 2017 range. 2015-2016 units appear to be in the 27536CA020 range, and I found a 2019 that was 27536CA060

For some reason Subaru parts catalogs don’t find these part numbers.

I think Techstream will show you the software revision.

I might look into doing the cluster then. Any problems with odometer mismatch between the ECU and the cluster?

Oh it’s only Stored in the cluster? I’m used to cluster swaps being a nightmare on bmws because they have to get coded to each other cause they both record it and then cross reference.

2017 abs module on 16 down

I think track mode might have more to do with how much throttle gets cut vs how much brake modulating gets done. The VSC module can’t decide how much power to cut. It can only report wheel slip over CAN. Throttle modulation is probably done by the ecu somehow.

I’m still puzzled over the difference in VSC sport button behaviors. I can’t get hill start to work either. Both our cars are 2013 limited, both with 2017/2018 abs modules, only difference is the cluster. I’ll do the cluster swap to see if that changes the button behavior and the hill start. I’ve always wanted oil temp on the dash anyway. @solidsnake11, do you still have the 2013 traction control buttons?

I cleared my abs codes before I got hill assist to work but I wasn't using the emergency brake before when I was trying to get hill assist activate.

Okay so it’s not the buttons. You already said you only have the ABS module and the Cluster, but I wanted to confirm that.

I never got any abs codes in the first place, probably because i repinned the connector before connecting the module the first time. I tried activating hill start again but my guess is that the cluster actually plays a bigger part than just showing the light. Maybe there are certain CAN signals missing or not passed on when you use the old cluster. I’ll come back with an update after sourcing a 2017 cluster.

I installed 2018 BRZ TS abs module(27536CA050) to my 2012 toyota 86 6MT.
AND

trac mode & hill assist are available now =)

I don't have new cluster or new trac button. I only installed 2017 ABS module.

Hi,

I've installed a 2017 ABS module from 27536CA030 to 13MY Toyota 86. Now the VSC sport switch should be pressed over 1 second to lit the VSC sport indicator of the cluster. Wow!

Thanks.

So all we've deciphered is that it fits and functions with minor modification to the arrangement of connector pins. There is a definite change in how the VDC sport mode is activated. Button need to be held down a second or more compared to the original ABS module.

That's good and all, but did it effect the way intervenes on wheel slip? Is it functionally the same as the track mode on the 2017+? Or did we just change slightly the way it VDC sport gets turned on but nothing else?
