@Missy, the short answer is ...... no .... you worrying isn't going to help anything.....

Yes, it's natural to be worried, however, just trust your dad, the insurance company and the repair shop.

If, when it's repaired, it looks good to you, it tracks down the road straight and the steering wheel pretty much stays in the center and doesn't wobble ..... you will be good to go.

If after you get it back, if it doesn't seem to "drive right", come on over to Puyallup and you can take my FR-S for a spin (errrr......I mean, drive) for a comparison ...... you do know how to drive a stick ..... don't you ?? ....

@humfrz you sir are full of surprises.. Lol everything outta that mouth of yours! It's safer if I don't attempt to drive stick, hence owning an auto

Also thank you @vh_supra26 for posting pics, I'm workin so I wasn't able to check and re-post the pics.
@trekkie I was mostly worried because I was hit at a weird angle and you can't totally tell in the picture but everything is crammed back into the wheel well and not knowing a lot about cars I didn't know if that could mean possible frame/unibody or whatever damage. Lol

I'm still learning and happy to get feedback on things like this, especially accidents since this is my first and hopefully final one..

On to the question, we wanted to make sure there was absolutely no frame damage and that the people fixing it weren't just saying it was ok,

There are ways to check, the most common is a measuring system that works by attaching reflectors to the underside of the car at certain points. A laser then measures the distance to all the points and will give you a print out of the measurements. If the body is off the numbers won't lie. You won't find a measuring system at any small ma and pa shop. If they don't have a frame machine they won't have a measuring system. They cost serious cash.

Most smaller shops will use a tram gauge and take measurements of structural points. You measure in an "X" shape crossing left to right and front to back. If the measurements are off, so is the car. This method is getting harder to do with car getting more complex shaped and cramped.

well today they told my dad that the car doesn't have a frame it's a unibody and there's nothing you can do about it if something's wrong with it.

In correct. A Unibody can be repaired and is done quite often. It is a much different process and due to the way the cars are made it can add up the $ really quick. Replacing structural metal isn't uncommon on expensive cars. Had the vehicle been an old beater it wouldn't be worth the hassle.

@Missy Feel free to ask anything else.

And that's exactly why I was worried, the shops want to make money and if they're busy, like they've been saying, they want it done fast. Suuuucks.

@Kiske you are awesome and thank you. Lol

I guess it depends on your insurance company, and the agent. When they're family friends it's more like mr incredible helping you get everything you deserve vs his boss

I thought this was a thread about rearview mirrors until I clicked it. Love that JDM frameless rig. But I digress...

Good helpful posts make me feel all warm and cozy.

Missy how's the head?

Well, jonbonazza, generally I would agree with you.

However, Missy's insurance company is USAA.

I have been a member of, and a stockholder in, USAA for over 45 years. During those 45 years, I've had over 20 vehicles and 6 houses insured by USAA. I've always found them to be a financially sound, fair and an honest company....hence my trust....

DANG, Missy, no wonder you have so many headaches!

NOT TO WORRY, those auto body shops can do wonders with bondo and super glue. Hell, I had a MG, with a uni-body construction, "fixed" back in Connecticut ...... and I didn't realize that they had just bondo-ed it back together, until I went to jack it up (after I had moved to Saint Louis) and the car broke in half ...... but the paint looked good, although the used a rattle can of forest green from Lowes instead of British racing green....

.......jest ah messen wich ya .....
