steering wheel controls

Hi all,

I can't help but wish I had some steering wheel controls to at least manage/navigate my audio (since that's what I use/change the most); taking my eyes off the road so frequently to change songs, equalizer settings, etc. seems, to me, really hazardous. Of course, it would be nice to be able to answer and end calls as well, and perhaps a number of other simple, one-touch things.

Does anyone have any ideas on where to get and/or how to integrate some type of steering wheel controls for the receiver? I did a quick search and came up with nothing. I think it would be great to come up with something, and I'm sure it could be done via bluetooth. Any ideas are greatly appreciated. Anything I happen to come across in my research, I will be sure to post here as well.

One thing that might help my searches, and anyone else interested, off-hand, does anyone know the actual electronic manufacturer of the Audio/Navigation system receiver?

I really wanted steering wheel controls and was very hopeful when one of the concept cars had them. Still would be nice to have them, BUT after getting the car, I agree with someone who said that the unit sits very close to you on your driving position, so its not an issue they are not included. Probably in later years, that will be an upgrade. Keep the thread updated if you find any good alternative.

Find a 2012 WRX/STI steering wheel and airbag. I'm guessing everything should swap in, but you'll have to custom run the wires for the steering wheel controls.

Meh. Volume is close to the wheel anyway and I use voice commands for navigation and music.

Having written that, I wouldn't object to a "voice command" wheel button that'd also pause/resume and answer/mute/un-mute (hold to hangup).

Didn't realize I could use voice commands for music. I thought I could for the navigation, but I still have yet to read the manual, to figure out either.

Thanks for the tip, however.

While I like the audio controls in my Versa, I like the BRZ's wheel better. It lets you know the steering wheel is all about business.

FWIW, using voice commands for music is worse than just using the touchscreen.

No thanks. I like no buttons on my steering wheels just like my Cayman R.
