Excited to be waiting to schedule a custom roll bar installation!

Next step for track days: a harness. Oh, now a harness bar. NO, a roll bar. And race seats. Then the harness.

Do you street drive the car? You may want to check the legalities for your state and safety implications if you do.

It's a bad idea to have a roll bar and a roll bar imo

YMMV, but I learned the hard way w/ my previous track car, a C5Z06. It had race buckets, a harness bar, and harnesses. It was great on track, but I hated driving it on the street. These cars already have great seats, and I'm looking forward to enjoying my new BRZ as a daily driver and street car w/ no interior changes, rock hard suspension setups, or super loud exhaust.

Very clean installation completed! (Thanks to McMahan Autosport, Akron OH)
My track sessions dictated a harness over the 3points. Harnesses required seats and a bar, and a half cage is recommended over just a bar. I expect to swap seats when I have many days between track events. It will be a hassle, but driving this car is worth it!!

Any pictures? Is this just the bar behind the seat? if so, I don't see any issues as a DD...if this is a full rollcage, I could see the issue.

Of course one must obey the track regs, but the discussion reminds me that out of all the wrecked BRZs I've seen on this forum, I've never seen one with a crushed roof, or even a broken windshield. (uh-oh, here comes Tcoat . . .)

Sorry it took me a while to get some snaps. DD and track. Swap out seats for DD and use OE 3-points. Cobra seats and 6-points w/ Hans for track. Half cage. Custom install, welded in.

If you're running a cage on the street, you should be using those race seats and harnesses full time as well - for your own safety.

The factory 3 points and seats will NOT contain you sufficiently in the event of an accident. If your head hits that roll bar without a helmet on -even if the cage is padded- you will be a vegetable for life. Go to the IIHS and watch their crash test videos if you are not familiar with how much/far/extreme bodies move in an accident. I wasn't. It's shocking, really.

One of my client's had it happen to an employee of his. Bounced his head off the roll bar in what was otherwise a pretty tame collision. Guy was never the same again - could no longer do his job so he had to let him go. It caved part of his skull in, causing brain damage.

As an aside, it's also not a good idea to repeatedly bolt/unbolt from the mounting points in composite seats. It can weaken them. Unbolting the brackets from the floor would probably be a better route to go, any time you need to remove them to work on the car if they're in the way.
