I just did this to my car... on the 2015, I couldn't find the "S" to change it, but in changing the "G" the arrows start coming on at each shift. I've had the car for all of 2 weeks now, and still finding new stuff.... This FR S is totally Awesome!!

Thanks to the OP more than 2 years later.

I saw this in the owner's manual, but the manual neglected to mention that you don't start the car. Got it now.

I've always been puzzled as to how guys got the gear indicator. I always thought it was a JDM thing. It's crazy how after almost 2 years I'm still finding out more stuff about this car.

Totally didn't know the car had this. Maybe I should read the manual...

Totally agree that people who know what they're doing don't need the gear display... but this is the reason I'm turning it on:

"Am I in first?" Nope that's 3rd gear and you stalled the car

The eco shift display is totally useful for everyone though, going to give that a try on my commute.

Did they take this out of the 2016s? I'm trying to turn on the gear indicator but all I have when I hit the odo button are my miles, trip a, and trip b.

I don't see why someone would need to see the gear indicator on a manual car though because you should be able to tell what gear you are based on where the shifter sits in the maze...unlike on the automatic where you only move the shifter up and down (or use the paddle shifters)

This is what it says to do in the owner's manual:

Displaying of the shift position indicator and shift-up indicator can be
turned on/off.

Press the “ODO/TRIP” switch repeatedly until the setting
screen is displayed.

Each time the switch is pressed and held, the display changes
between on/off.
“G-on”: Display on
“G-oFF”: Display off

This is only displayed when the engine switch is in the “ACC” or “LOCK” position.
