Giken clutches

Looking for reviews pros and cons on the giken clutches. I am looking at the STR twin plate.

One big con is cost, but if it is able to deliver excellent drivability with no chatter might be worth every penny?

OSG makes awesome products. That said, that clutch seems overkill for a street car.

I will need one that can hold 400+whip, but it's still streetable I would prefer one with no chatter

That STR clutch is rated for 570 ft/lb which is like 700+hp in a BRZ.

I think I'd be looking at a South Bend clutch, myself. Something with a full face, single disc.

I’ve been very impressed with the OS Giken clutch reviews I’ve read and I’m a sucker for a pretty face - most of them look like works of art! My OS Giken LSD transformed my car and I’d seriously consider one of their clutches.

Yeah the LSD is lovely because it's not intrusive.

Gangster clutches are loud and tend to be un-fun to drive on the street.

Definitely not what I'm looking for, gangster & loud= bad,

The Grand touring claims to be chatter free, need to see what it can hold

Giken twin plates are awesome. Have one on my MR2 Turbo for 8 years now.
Only downside, I have that notorious twin plate rattle, but with 8 years combines daily driving, track days and autox days it's been holding up.
Just about last year I felt it slip just a bit but not that much that won't affect it.

As for a twin plate on the twins, it's overkill. Driveablity it would be on the stiff side, but manageable. May or may not get that twin plate rattle, but it sure would have a long life.

Get this one. It's red. You'll easily frag your transmission before it slips.

Agreed, and this is where some of the newer OS Giken clutches are supposed to shine - basically, they offer massive power handling capabilities while maintaining a high degree of civility. That said, I’ll be the first to admit that I’m an armchair quarterback parroting what I’ve read, and not having any firsthand experience.
