Will FRS get HID's?

Searched around and haven't really found anything. Things that were confirmed/reported so far that I have found is that the 86, GT86, and BRZ will receive HID/xenon headlamps. So far I've only seen halogen projectors on frs. Anyone got any info on this? I apologize in advance if there has been a topic on this already. I did try to look for it but found nothing.

Scion typically does 1 version, then a bunch of stuff that the dealer can add.

Headlights have to be DOT approved. So even though they have the Japanese version, chances are good they didn't bother approving them. BRZ has HIDs.

Won't know for certain until they release the specs.

I'm really hoping the butt-warmers are standard on all the Cdn fr-s units. Or that the dealer can install.

Welcome. We have not seen evidence that the FRS will have HID headlights. Which sucks, because they should be standard equipment.

Since they already have projector beam headlights, you always get an OEM HID kit.

why don't we make the FRS shoot some unique colors like BLUE?

Or is that illegal?

Was wondering what k the Evo 9 shoots, cause they kinda have a unique color to it stock. Unless i'm mistaken and every evo 9 i see at night is modded in the headlight.

I know in some places, anything outlandish, purple, blue, and blindingly bright will get you stopped.

But for the OP, it will probably be an option. Thinking back, I dont think its an option for any other Scion so, I guess we have to wait and see

The colors of headlight are caused by the kelvin of the hid system. Anything that varies from 4200k is going to add more color but it will also take away from your visibility.

I just looked it up and if it is indeed an Osram D2S 35W, TRS has that bulb. It could be a 5000K but the more blue can be due to the lens.

NO IT WON'T HAVE HID's.
The FR-S is the low spec. This is a typical marketing move
for you to spend more money on the very "desirable" HID's.
you will have to buy the premium model to get the added features.
you can still just buy them separately from the BR-Z parts.

Halogen projectors are NOT HID projectors. They will not be approved and so you're stuck with the "for off-road use only" clause like any of the other ricers with drop ins. JDM stuff will arc to the wrong side. You won't be able to just buy the BRZ lights.

Also, if you're buying a FR-S what's the likelihood you'd tick the box for ~1500$ just for hids? Might as well get the BRZ at that point.

Because car manufacturers are in the business of making cars safe before trendy. 4300k HIDs put out the most light, which is why ALL OEM HIDs are 4300k.

This.

You can see that the 4100k projects the fullest pattern and brightest light.

Doubt there will be a premium Scion at all with HIDs at all. Scion's entire brand is built on sending stripper cars to dealers and having the dealers install all of the options. That never involves completely new headlights.

Right. I will never go above 5000K for visibility.

hids could be an option. This could be the first scion with factory options. The price will start low but will add up if you want everything..

If there are factory options the will be:
Hids
Dual zone ac with push start and proximity
Leather/alcantara seats
Rear wing

There is still a possibility that hids will come standard like they are on the BRZ.
Nobody can say for sure if scion got the hids approved for the us. If Subaru did then scion could have. Maybe the reason why we have not seen any on a FR-S is because they were not approved....yet.

We don't know anything until the final specs and or options/accessories are released.

We will find out in the next 3 weeks!
