Double Adjustable Ohlins? *teaser*

Hey All!

We just finished the build on these Damperworks double adjustable Ohlins.

The Ohlins Road & Track for the FR-S/BRZ Application retrofitted with a Bilstein Dual Bleed Adjustable Shaft (MDS).

Talk about a frankenstein build!

The customer will be using it for SCCA STX Class And HPDE Track Days.

Any questions?! Feel Free to ask!

Note: We cannot post dyno sheets as it is solely for the customer. We did valve these to their custom spring rate of choice.

From the words of the wiser

"Here's an example of what Damperworks can do for you. Take a current shock/strut offering and make it better! This is for FT86 application. They took an Ohlins DFV (great piston design but single adjustable) and used Dual Bleed Shafts to better control the low speed bleed while making the inline strut double adjustable. All the while specifically valving the shock/strut to fit your needs. (*not an off the shelf offering - Custom Order)
Great value to get Penske equivalent performance for fraction the cost. Penske 7500 =$8k+ option

Each strut is balanced match and provides fine tuning incremental changes to suit your needs. Off the shelf "Race" units usually advertise Large Adjustments to suit a wide range of spring rates but do little to provide "proper" low speed control. Remember, there is such thing as TOO MUCH low speed rebound. - Jonathan Lugod."

+1 (just interested really) I already have the ohlins though.

Worth mentioning that the TMG cup GT86 swapped over to the Bilstein MDS from Ohins TTX in 2014.

So a quick estimate for the conversion (actual quote may vary depending on the shocks and what the customer is looking to actually do)

Bilstein MDS Shafts: $450 Each
Labor Per Shock: $250+ Depending on condition.
Penske Shock Fluid = $25 a bottle

So just for the conversion (shock provided) it starts at $725 per shock. (We've only done the fronts so far, the rears are still in the works to see if it is possible.)

The best way for you guys to get an accurate quote would be to give us a call.

Just a thought,

a set of Penkse's for the twins will range from 8K - 10K depending on who builds the kit and what it consists of.
These Ohlins (competitive with the penske's) will probbaly range you 4k-5k total.

So price wise, we can see what kind of a great deal it is.

Except only drawback may arise - i guess they cannot be serviced anymore not @Bilstein nor @Ohlins dealers and have to be shipped back at you?

Yes. We would advise for you to ship it back to us as we were the ones who put it together.

Different shops may be able to open it back up but it might not perform the same way as you received it.

If you're able to do the rears it would be great if you could snap some pics of the guts so I can understand why they made the body of the shock so long versus other coilovers on the market (not looking for overly detailed pics).

Either way, I'm thinking I'll eventually move to these DAs when I have more experience.

I love how the height is adjusted through the shock body and not by compressing the springs to retain more travel of the shock.

The length of the Ohlins is pretty average if you ask me. Here you can see it compared to a non adjustable Bilstein coilover for the twins. (converted to DA)

Pretty proportionate to their counter part.

Fair enough. It just seems way too easy to bottom out the rear end as they are stock, even with stiffer springs.

We have never had any issues bottoming out the stock ohlins/stock springs on our autox/track cars.

Although we run our cars at moderate heights with a slight forward rake.
