Obviously some kind of metering/surveillance would be required to keep people honest. I'm sure someone with more website design knowledge than myself would know what appropriate features would facilitate this so I won't take guesses at what would be practical

Picked mine up from the dealer and immediately installed a dashboard camera.
Then drove to the nearest store to grab a 32GB microSD, because I didn't read the bloody spec sheet and expected my previous SD card to fit in.

Will do. I had taken her in for her scheduled maintenance and mentioned that I knew there was a bulletin and they'd finally redesigned the part. Asked if they'd repro the sound and get me a warranty replacement. Luckily, they managed to get her to cooperate and actually chirp for them (I had a problem in the past where she just wouldn't do it when I needed her to). So - they ordered the reengineered part yesterday and it came in this morning.

With luck, I'll be rid of the damned crickets once and for all.

Next on the agenda: budgeting new wheels and tires soon. And figuring out how to change a battery in my key fob.

I hope for your sake that your dealership has a competent service department.

I used to have the crickets, but have not heard them for a long time. They went away on their own. I miss them.

I hope so too. I did a lot of research before picking the one with the least amount of complaints. I miss Hansel in Petaluma terribly - I loved those guys and they were amazing to me. Most of the dealers here in Chicago had a lot of people reporting they were coming up with $1000-1500 additional services they supposedly "needed". This one seemed to be the only one without those claims which was also under an hour from my house, and watching their interactions with other customers while I was in there they seem competent and honest. So - let's hope!

I'll be glad when they're gone, though part of me held a small bit of affection for that little quirk.

Ordered an Anarchy Motive Atlas shift knob in transparent red. Might take a while, but can't wait to receive it.
