With that said, it is priced out of the market for many people, so I expect the price to drop over time, as they improve the manufacturing process. Yet, the top trim is faster than a base 911 while towing means you get what you pay for.

Thing that sucks is it's not like buying an extended battery pack for your laptop or camera.

I doubt that thing is removable, and even if it were it's gotta be pretty heavy.

Of course the 911 will be faster on a track or at high speeds because of gearing and aerodynamics, but that isn't really the point.

I remember when the F150 SVT Lightening in the 2000's advertised that it was faster than a Ferrari...not around a track or at top speed. Same thing.
All understood, just pointed out that that's about the only scenario where it's "faster".

0-60 and quarter mile are marketing points in this country because it is usable for around town and getting on the highway. Most people don't take their car to a track, we don't have an autobahn, and anything faster like having a top speed over 100mph just gets you arrested. For like 99% of people, it is faster in ways that matter. And for truck drivers, the extra performance will be appreciated.

There is also the fact that Tesla made a $100k truck that is faster than a $100k Porsche, but is much heavier. Yes, apples to oranges, but still a dig. For my $100k, I'd rather own the Porsche of course, but still.

Also, from the Hagerty video, there is a market for fast trucks like the F150 SVT Lightning to the TRX today.

I guess this will be the vehicle of choice for urban gangsters or cartel members.
I'm not a gun person, just a skeptic. And I wouldnt be surprised if those rounds are not the most powerful.
Does the market really need more expensive pickup trucks right now? Probably not, since dealer lots are still covered with them and the window stickers have more added lines than Al Capone's rap sheet.

I mean they show a side by side with a standard vehicle. The metal is considerably thicker. The Glock is shooting a 9mm round. That Tommy Gun is shooting a .45 cal round. The 9mm is moving faster than the .45, so power is about the same from both, which is why the indent is probably similar (more mass and slower vs less mass and slightly faster...E=1/2mv^2). They didn't bring a rifle to the party for good reason. Still, I'm sure a lot of people would rather have that door between them and a car impacting them.

That would matter if anyone thought of this as an actual truck. It's a lifestyle "look at me" vehicle.

I certainly would. Standard car door will protect you from a thrown knife but that's about it.

Well, thankfully where I live the probability of being shot at is quite low. On the other hand, if the skin of the vehicle can improve impact safety then I'm all for it.
We have a local company here Roshel, that builds wheeled personnel carriers/tactical patrol vehicles on modified F550 chassis. Now, THAT vehicle is designed to resist small arms fire. So, maybe that Tesla truck skin can be applied to something where it's really needed. How many people here feel that they need bullet proof doors on their daily driver? Seriously. Aside from law enforcement, I hope not many of you

I just figured out what it is that bugs me about the looks of the Cybertruck.
First, it looks like it was designed in Minecraft.
Second, it should have been called the DeLorean truck. To me, it resembles one.
I recommend it for the next BTTF movie.

I think those things are mutually exclusive. It's not cool enough for BTTF. Maybe Biff could drive it.

Since the Cybertruck took so long to hit production after it's initial reveal, I think the "unobtanium" factor will motivate some people to want to have one. It is almost the poster child for "vehicle of the future".
The guy who publishes the Carwow videos ordered a top model one right after the trip from UK to Cali for the reveal. I'm sure that with around 8M subscribers, he can pay for it too. He bought his mother a Model 3 in the past year as well. YouTube can be very lucrative.

I don't see how the Cybertruck can be anything more than a lifestyle vehicle, the big three and Toyota won't lose out on their mainstream clients. Mind you, with so many pickup trucks on the lots with $60k+ pricetags some people will migrate to Tesla for the wow factor, until it eventually wears off.

More vehicles on the road that can do sub 3s 0-60 times isn't necessarily good for anyone except the car company's profits. Maybe it's my age, but I see that metric as something for immature people...with money to burn.
