Welcome to the forum.

With the extra room and adjustment you will get from coilovers, You should be fine with the 255.

Read at least page one of the Meaty tire thread.

My originally ordered 18x8ET44 wheels fell through, I'm instead receiving 18x8.5ET44 wheels. I was originally going to use 225/40R18 tires on the wheels, and this looks like it could still work, but if I'm willing to deal with a shorter sidewall and all the ride comfort/higher potential for rim damage that comes with it, it looks like 245/35R18 would be workable too.

I'm curious about properly sizing tires and fitment for this on stock suspension. I think that 18x8.5ET44 should fit without issues on the suspension, but definitely the lower profile tires do have some additional width over the rim comparatively. Will this be an issue? Should I choose 225/40R18 or 245/35R18 for these wheels?

Thanks!

I had less than 8mm of clearance to the strut/spring perch on my 245/35/18's and 18x8 +45. Your 18x8.5 +44 wheels are going to be 5+mm closer. They should clear, but will be very close. 245/35 will fit on the 18x8.5. Camber bolts won't work. You will need more room for adjustment, like with spacers or coilovers.

Does this mean that I will have problems with rubbing, even if I go with the 225/40s? I knew 18x8 +44 would be perfect fitment, but unfortunately that's not an option available to me right now. I have a choice of two different wheels at 18x8.5 +44 (or I have to go a completely different route). I don't think I need to induce any additional camber at 8.5 wide, but I'm open to correction if I've got the wrong idea here.

I'm hoping to avoid having to mess with the suspension until next year when I can do a full suspension replacement (coilovers, LCAs F/R, R toe arms, sway bars, end links, bushings).

Maybe, it is going to be close. Though a 3mm slip spacer should fix it if you do rub with the 245/35. Like I said it is going to be close. Tires are different in size from brand to brand sometimes; even with the same numbers on them.

18x8 +35 is considered "perfect" fit, not 18x8+44.

I have 18x8 +45 with a 10mm spacer. making it 18x8+35. And, honestly, with -1.5 camber, I could fit a 15mm spacer up front and be flush.

If the concern is specific to 245/35, I could run 225/40 instead for the tires and it'd give it more room before the tires rubbed. As long as there is space between the wheel and the suspension I'm okay with running narrow tires for a year and I can worry about swapping to wider tires after I replace the suspension next summer.

What tire are you thinking? Or what have you budgeted for tires?

I'm not dead-set on them, but I'm pretty certain that I want Bridgestone Potenza S-04 Pole Positions. They are available in both sizes (225/40R18 and 245/35R18).

My budget for tires is effectively limitless within reason. While I live in an area where I can run summer tires all year, I want to have something that's streetable and will last me at least 1 year DDing with occasional track use. I'd rather not burn multiple sets a year to get a small amount of extra grip. I know that there's street legal semi-slicks and such that I could probably get away with here (although I wouldn't want to drive them in the wet), but I'd like to stay definitely on the "street tire" side of things for now.

So, I went out today and jacked the car up. Took off the stock wheel and measured. Did a bit of math and I'm certain that things will fit without rubbing using the narrower tire. I think I'll have about 3mm of clearance with the wider tire, but I'm entirely sure if the front would rub at steering lock so I'm going to use the narrower tires until I do my suspension swap next year.

So I've had my heart set on Enkei Raijin's and was looking for a wide setup, Unfortunately they don't seem to come in 18x9, and the only offset they offer for 5x100 is 18x9.5 +45.

From what I've read am I correct that 18x9.5 +45 won't fit on stock suspension? I was hoping for 255r35 MPSS. Would getting a spacer help them fit? or would I need coilovers for 9.5? Would 245 tires help the fit?

Thank you so much guys.
