Weight Loss Potential Thread

I was bored this evening so I put together a weight loss potential list. Some weight losses are exact and some are estimated (erred on the conservative side).

I used this thread for most of the stock weights for comparison. Other weights are from threads on this forum.

I left out most of the miscellaneous <.5lb items.

All weights are total (i.e. wheel weight reduction is all 4 corners, not per-side), and estimated weights have a "~".

Code:
Item____________________________Stock___Aftermarket___Reduction
Battery_________________________29.6____~15___________~15
SRT Header-Back Exhaust_________55.5____38.5__________17
Agency Power Header_____________20.8____12.3__________8.5
RPF1 Wheels w/22lb Tires (4)____41.4____~38___________~12
Spare Tire & Foam (remove)______25.8____0_____________25.8
Tools, Jack, Hook (remove)______5.8_____0_____________5.8
Essex Sprint BBK (AP Racing)____61.6____41.6__________20
Rear Speakers (remove)__________?_______0_____________~5
Front Seats/Brackets____________82.8____~45___________~38
Rear Seats (remove)_____________22.2____0_____________22.2
Owners Manual___________________2.8_____0_____________2.8
Perrin Crank Pulley_____________4.9_____1.2___________3.7
Flywheel (n/a yet!)_____________20.6____~12___________~8.5
CF Driveshaft (n/a yet!)________24.1____13.9__________10.2
Windshield Washer Fluid Bottle__~7______0_____________~7
This list puts us near a 200lb reduction, while still remaining 100% daily driveable. I understand there are some more serious mods for reducing weight, such as stripping the interior or gutting the AC, but for now I'm trying to keep most of the comforts of owning a brand new car.

Post up and I'll add to the list when I can! I know there is more un-needed weight that can be lost!

Nice post, thanks.
You were definitely a bit conservative on your battery weight loss potential. We were able to knock 25 lbs. off with current lithium-ion technology, while still maintaining 100% daily utility. Finding that extra 10lbs. elsewhere without impacting usability will probably not be super easy.

Your calc is off on the wheels... 41-38 is 3, not 12.

do the seats have airbags in them?

if yes, does removing them affect the functionality of the airbag system?

Didn't think about that one. That's something that I've removed or hasn't worked on my past cars. Not a problem for DD unless your driving on roads with lots of sand/grit (i.e. snowy roads that have melted!). Thanks!

I have seen that battery and it is AMAZING! However, it's very much on the pricey side, which is why I went conservative with the number. Prices should eventually come down, though, like they do for just about all new-tech items

Braille has a few lightweight batteries for much less. I'm just not sure if they're any good. Anyone have any experience with them?

that would depend entirely on the climate of where you live.

I think I'll try that Braille B106 out. At 6.9lbs and $148 it's worth a shot.
