Maybe they should just take the programming from the 8 speeds in the Lexus products.....(those ones are apparently very good)

Yeah, I think you're on to something. It would be so aggravating to most anyone here.

The thing is, the class action lawsuit has to do with 2-3 other alleged defects in the 8A/T from "shift shock", "failure to disengage at a stop", and "slipping" on acceleration (the most frequent complaint I've read that's alleged to be a safety defect when attempting to overtake).

Honda can't keep up with demand for the Type-R, plain and simple. Hate on the car all we want but it sells and the demand isn't slowing down.

For years, people complained about the Camry being too plain or boring. Now Toyota does something wild to it, and everyone complains about the mods.
To which I counter, imagine how many they would sell if the car had less obnoxious and less fake styling?!?! You can still stand out (from the base model crap the car is based on) without resorting to this sort of junk.

It would appear most designers that actually want their cars to look good in 10+ years have retired.

Another review, another slam on the 8A/T. Top speed limited to 112 mph? Seriously? That would eliminate any prospect of track day fun. No wonder they wouldn't allow journalists to lap the 1.5 mile oval, instead limiting testing to an autocross course:

"Like many Toyotas (and all Camrys), the TRD's eight-speed auto is geared way too tall for its engine, and it lacks any semblance of shift logic. On the former front, the Camry's first, second, and third gears top out at 30, 60, and 90 mph, respectively, leaving fourth through eighth gears to cover the 22-mph spread between the top of third gear and the Camry TRD's 112-mph top speed. On the latter, the transmission upshifts and downshifts seemingly at random, even with the car in Sport mode, hunting for whatever gear it thinks is the right one. Sport mode on the transmission, or the shift paddles, should help in theory, but instead they function more as a gear limiter as the transmission still continues to upshift and downshift as it pleases."

195 horsepower is way optimistic! Probably more like 120 horsepower.

plenty of cars out there nowadays have fake styling down to an artform.

but don't forget... the beloved S2000 had fake vents in the front bumper and it was nothing "wild", it just needed to be there to look the part.

Yes, been discussed here before but it's official now. Parts-bin engineering exclusively for the North American market with the kinda, sorta, part-time AWD system deployed in RAV4.

Also in the pipe and what interests me more is the coming plug-in RAV4 and Camry hybrids.
