They did not elaborate on this. I would assume the chassis/body is done via robots and the rest of the car is put together by hand. Otherwise i cant see how it'll cost as little as they say it will.

They have also confirmed NO TURBO - EVER.

I even asked whether TRD will do a Turbo or Supercharger kit and the word is NO.

You can see the pictures as im uploading them here - http://s1239.photobucket.com/albums/ff515/LeekyInJapan
no turbo, ever? Never ever? I can't imagine a Sti car with no turbo. Thanks for the info leeky can't you enough for the pictured and info.

The car looks stunning in natural light.

Wasn't the Legacy or Outback STI non-turbo'd?

This is fantastic news. Bravo to Toyota to standing up to the turbo mongers and keeping this car pure.

Regarding the 1,000 units a year; I can only fathom they mean Toyota-branded units for Japan. The "hand-built" part might also be a translation thing. That said, every production car today sees hand-built in some marketable facet, it just depends on the definition.
I think this is the key. Maybe there is a certain percentage of the car that is hand built as opposed to robots that gives it the "hand built" designation in Japan. If the whole thing is built by hand there's no way this gets anywhere near the $25k price point.

I own a Lotus so please please don't tell me this car will be hand built also.

Why would they say never ever a turbo or SC? Most sports cars nowadays are using smaller engines with turbo to get good fuel economy with the same performance. How can they be so sure that they won't have to go this route down the road?

Maybe next generation or Subaru version? Toyota confirmed that their car will not have turbocharge, but Subaru only said "no plan for turbocharge".

^Agreed about why say 'never'. No need for factory turbo monster, but a small turbo could help the low torque numbers tremendously, and provide a suitable base car for 3rd parties without ripping the engine and starting over due to it's high compression.

It's sounds 'pure' but is really problematic.

BTW Leeky ... you're the man... with so much excitment there, thanks for keeping us 'in the mix' with everyhting going on!

Keep in mind, this info is from Toyota, not FHI/Subaru.
