Personally, when i saw the car in red i wondered why anyone would buy any other color-- it just really seduced me.

But this very attractive chick in a white FR-S smiled and waved at me on the highway last week so I have a nice affinity for the white FR-S.

Firestorm is still the best.
yeah! yours! it's the "last" color i would want! first to get "lit up!"
any thing "red" is a "cop magnet!" get yourself a "val 1" it's the only
way to keep from getting "painted!" that, and of course, slowing down helps!

Nothing at risk at all - as mentioned above - as Toyota NZ stuffed up they are trading in my red for the RRP I paid for it. Two or three months free motoring! Already signed (and they have too) the Sale and Purchase agreement for my grey TRD version with my red car listed as trade-in at RRP to guarantee the deal.

Easy decision since Toyota here in NZ were really good about putting things right.

Same thing here! I really wanted Hot Lava but kept seeing the pictures in different lighting and wasn't completely sold on it, my favorite color is orange. Finally I saw a firestorm FR-S in person and fell in love instantly. Even now I don't regret it, I walk out to my car and I just can't help smiling. It looks awesome!!! sea of red.

hmm i've never heard that. what makes white so vunerable to the gun? i've got 2 white cars and one black and never (knock on wood) been pulled in the black one but have 5 tickets between the white ones. so you might be on to something. haha.

This post has less cohesion than your previous, so I'm not entirely sure what you're trying to say. My statement about white cars and radars is scientific, whereas yours about red cars is based on societal and emotional factors, making it unrelated to my post. And you told me that I should slow down, hence your ignorant condescension at assuming I speed and telling me not to speed as if you're better than me, though your whole post had hints of the latter.

Applies more to lidar, but by driving a white car (reflects the most amount of light), the lidar has maximum range of detection. Whereas, if you drive a black car, which absorbs most light, the detection range is reduced. So scientifically it is disadvantageous to drive a white car, but like the lovely poster from earlier said, more flashy colors will attract cop attention anyway.

And cops will usually be well within the maximum operating range, so even with decreased efficiency for black cars and other colored cars, speed will still be accurately determined. And they usually try to aim for the license plate anyway since that's most reflective.

I don't have any proof at my finger tips right now but I'll bet if someone researched this long enough and hard enough they would find that red is no more a cop magnet than any other car. Maybe a job for Myth Busters!

very well explained. never stopped to think about it but that makes sense.

so i wonder why the insurance rates are cheaper for neutral colored cars vs. the "flashy" colors if you are more prone to tickets in a white vehicle. simply because the brighter colors catch your eye more?

In the 25 years I worked handling automobile insurance claims I only worked for two different insurance companies. However, neither one of them ever asked a customer what color car he had when he called to take out insurance.

Color doesn't affect insurance rates.
