Good tires for daily/Autocross

Any recommendations on tires that are good for both autocross and daily driving for the frs? Just ran my first autocross and realized what all of the forums and reviews have been saying, the weak link with this car is the stock tires. What do you guys and girls run? Thanks!

Michelin Pilot Super Sport.

(I'm assuming you don't need all seasons, since the Super Sports are absolutely useless in the snow. They're great in the rain though...)

Bridgestone RE-11A. Good in the rain, dry, not too loud, excellent grip and wear characteristics.

i agree. much better rain performance than the rs3 too even though they're just a tad bit slower.

It was great to see you and a few other FRS/BRZ's at the ZMAX AutoX this weekend. I'm also glad to hear that you had enough fun to consider coming out again with upgraded tires!

I'll add my vote for the Bridgestone RE-11As. They really are one of the best dual-purpose tires in the "Extreme Performance" street tire category. You will get vastly improved dry grip from the stock tires, but they are still great in the rain and quiet around town.

I personally compete with Dunlop ZIIs and they are a little faster than the RE-11As, but they're also much noisier. The RE-11As also provide great feedback as you near their limit which is very good for someone that is new to AutoX.

Anyway, good luck with your tire decision and I hope to see you at the next event!

I want the Mich PSS but they are not avail in 235/40 - RE11's sound like a great option.

Other I was looking at for a bit more street a little less autox would be the falken FK453, or the conti extremecontact dw (though some say sidewalls too soft for hard autoX).

I don't care much about wear rating but super noisy tires annoy me.

Whats the tire life on the RE11s? They were another possible choice for me as well but I picked the Hankook v12s over them because of their long tire life and I also use my FRS as a daily.

I run Dunlop ZII's (225/45/17) daily and for autox/track events. They're definitely not quiet tires, but they pass the wife test on the highway.

One thing to look at when picking tires is what other mods you plan to do. Tires like RS3's and XS's are lighter with softer sidewalls so you need more negative camber to maintain a good contact patch. It's not a bad thing, just something to keep in mind.

PSS are too soft for auto x once they warm up, Z11, RS-3 or RE-11 get my vote.

PSS are harder than the other tires you listed.

Edit: Just noticed you said "after they warm up". Do you mean they grease out quickly? I highly doubt they are too soft.

Anything in the max performance summer category. Sounds like you're not trying to set FTD, but want something that's good in daily driving too. Pick based on tire rack reviews/tests and budget.
