RANDOM QUESTIONS THREAD

Hi people,
i thought i would make this, we need a place were we can ask little questions that do not warrant a new thread each time..
i am not sure if the main forum has one of these, but everyone is welcome to post here.. just if you are answering questions with respect to where to buy what in stores, mind what part of the world the question comes from

cheers

ps could we sticky this?

Great idea.

Not sure if all members would post here though, guess some people rather start their own threads.

Let me start it off.

Can i enable the tacho sweep on my 86. Havent searched for it, but i remember something that we can ? If yes then how ?

Tachometer indicator needle movement function when starting
the vehicle

When the engine switch is turned to “ON” position (vehicles without a
keyless access with push button start system), or the push-button
ignition switch is turned to “ON” mode (vehicles with a keyless access
with push button start system), the tachometer indicator needle points
to the highest value once and then quickly returns.
■Changing between activated/deactivated
Step 1 Press the “ODO/TRIP” switch repeatedly until the setting
screen is displayed.
Step 2 Each time the switch is pressed and held, the function
changes between activated/deactivated.
“S-on”: Activated
“S-oFF”: Deactivated

This is from the BRZ manual; I am assuming it is the same for the 86.

^
will try this now!

EDIT: Not working on 86 GTS - cycled through the ODO while the car is powered "ON" (that mean's without starting the engine, right?). No setting for S-On or S-OFF. Unless i did it wrong all i saw was ODO, Trip A, Trip B then back to ODO

BRZ is different to 86 with this one. It's a BRZ unique feature.

86 has techno sweep too but only after setting the shift light and only sweep to the shift light rpm. Unlikely BRZ which goes all the way to redline.

Does the GTS have an alarm system? I notice in the Subaru drivers manual, possibly US spec, that it's there, although going by Toyota web specs that it's immobiliser only.

No alarm. Not every feature on US spec cars are on our car. Another one we don't get is tyre pressure monitoring system.

We have immobilisor tho.

Is the BRZ's sat nav any good? I'm still tossing up between a BRZ and an 86 and I hear the 86's sat nav is a bit hit and miss. Thanks guys.

I have had no issues with my GPS on the 86 and I use it everyday.

Richard BRZ comes with an Eclipse stereo instead of the Fujitsu Ten that is found in the 86

For the record, sat nav on BRZ is optional but standard on 86 GTS and as above they are not the same units.

If I want sat nav on BRZ, I'd rather go aftermarket.

I also don't have problem with my sat nav in my GTS. I just wish the touch screen is more responsive and it doesn't lock up the features when the car is moving.

Does anyone know who owns a white 86 around the Hills area in Sydney? Saw it on election day and glad to see one in my area!
