I have a pair of M50s and they're great. Didn't know they had a bluetooth adapter though. If you do get one try to take care of the leather padding while it's still new. It falls apart over time.

Speaking of OEM+, I just recently got it up and running now with my 2017 BRZ HU. I got my amp/dsp re-flashed for it and the sound is completely different than when I had my 13 base Pioneer non touchscreen HU.

With the Pioneer, the door speakers had zero bass and the bass came 100% from the trunk subwoofer. Now it seems like the bass is back in the door speakers, my doors are vibrating again - it's no longer just the subwoofer attempting to reproduce the low frequencies.

This actually works to create a more engaging and balanced listening experience, very much prefer how it's behaving now with the 17 BRZ Starlink HU.

Was this a retune specific to the HU or just the retune that they did when they upgraded the system? I though I saw something about sending it back in and they will retune it for free just cover shipping. If it's that different maybe I'll send mine back in

Well, what I requested was a retune specific to this 2017 BRZ head unit. I chose the same bass profile, Full, out of the three that they offer: Balanced (least/flat), Full (regular), and Robust (bass boost).

So, I was surprised to hear that the sound reproduction was so much different with only the retune to the 17 HU. I'm OK with more low frequencies going to the door woofers though, since they appear to be pretty beefy and they have carbon fiber woofers for rigidity.

Do you have the reference series where the door soeakers got replaced or are they still the OEM?

Thoughts on new bookshelf speakers? I currently have Polk Audio TSi100 speakers.

Thinking about the Monitor Audio Bronze 2 or the Klipsch Reference RP-160M.

I live near Clayton road. I took a wrong turn exploring and almost ended up in the mountains lol. I didn't have time for it so I took a random U-Turn. Pretty sure some homeowner is confused and pissed right now.

If you're going to travel a lot noise cancelling headphones are a glorious thing for blocking out the engine drone. Unfortunately I don't have any recommendations in that price range for what you're looking for. I love my Bose QC20 but they're more expensive and in ear. I've heard good things about the more expensive Sony's and they have options in your price range but I don't know anything about those models. Other than being over the ear my $200 recommendation is pretty much perfectly wrong for what you want. Maybe @PandaBRZ can help.

I have two interesting pairs of headphones: the Bose QC35's and a set of Sennheiser HD 202 II's.

The HD202's are super cheap; I think I bought a pair on Amazon a year ago for 25-30 bucks. The QC35's are at least an order of magnitude more and fortunately I have that pair through work.

So, the QC35's sound-cancelling is amazing. I wear them on Caltrain every day and they block out probably 85% of noise, which makes it much more bearable. I also used them this past week on my flights to and from NY and they probably blocked out about 75-80% of the airplanes' engine noise, which was fantastic.

On the other hand, the sound quality, while decent, is nothing amazing. I've actually listened to the Sennheisers and then swapped within a few minutes to the QC35's and the Sennheisers were noticeably better-sounding.

The problem with the HD202's is you don't get any active noise cancellation. You'll get some passive cancellation since they're over-ear cups, but nothing significant.

If you want a cheap but solid option temporarily I'd recommend the Sennheisers for sure, and if you have the money to splurge on a pair of the Bose then go for it, but know that getting them is more about if you value sound cancellation over sound quality.

I'm not an audiophile by any means, but I definitely noticed the difference sound-wise for the two pairs.

Funny you mentioned the QC35! My review of the updated version just went up: http://bit.ly/2lBLYZk

I agree that sound quality isn't great, but for most people, they'll think it's amazing.
