Just to be clear here, I'm not talking about outright stupidity and drifting burnouts, but rather someone who's going a toe over the line every corner when the trick is to step back from the limit and approach it with caution where necessary. (Or at least that's the mentality, whether or not I'm successful at achieving that approach is... well I have a long way to go).
FWIW, I've had multiple of setups on the same surface that can push, oversteer or be closer to neutral and haven't noticed tires falling off on 40 to 60 second courses in the conditions that you are talking about. Also I've noticed that varying tread depths and heat cycles come into play for tire wear/performance with different venue's.

@renfield90 I think that's some great advice. I'm well aware that #1 and #2 areas needing improvement are my driving skill and the car setup respectively (I tried something non-standard and it didn't pan out, now heading to a more standard setup that I think will be much easier to drive). But if there's some obvious mental shift or easy change to make (like tire pressure) that can be worth a few tenths sitting further down the list of stuff to fix it doesn't hurt to tackle it sooner rather than later.

I'm thinking that renfield90 may be right and I could be fighting tire pressure. I'm coming off course at ~34-35 psi (I've been as high as ~37, fun, but not fast methinks), I've run lower on other tires but not the RE71R, the pyrometer was showing even temps around the low 30's and so I never went lower. I think that's the next experiment.

But, nice to know that tire management is not a factor in what I've experienced. I presume you also mean to imply that on those hot days you can absolutely overheat the tires, especially on a >60s run in >90 degree heat we'll start to see in the next few weeks (hence the sprayers between runs).

Those are really high pressures, and would explain some of what you're experiencing. Dunno what your camber settings are at, but I run 28/29 F/R, and my pressures generally only increase by 1.5-2 PSI on my run. I'd suggest trying those lower pressures and seeing what that does for you.

I had a bunch of fun racing against you guys!

Great job Justin on day 2 to snag that last trophy spot. I just totally over drove my last run.

Congrats Manfred on the win.

I need to do some more national events, after a header and tune lol.

Quite a few twins using BFGs, I'm assuming the new Rival S 1.5, at the Tx Tour. Are they better than the RE71Rs all around, or just on concrete?

See the D Street thread for tire discussion. The short answer is many are finding the 1.5 to be a positive improvement, but IMO you still can't go wrong with either tire.

This seems to be what it's sounding like from everything I've read.

Based on what I've heard, I think the BFGs would suit my driving style a bit better, but I'm going to stick with the Stones I recently bought for now. I'd very much like to try the S 1.5 though. Perhaps mid-season...
