DVSIDBOY - NWMotiv Project BRZ Track Build (Vortech / 2500lbs)

Figured it was time that I created one of these threads and tracked the progress of the car with you all (those that arent on the FB Group).

Purchased the car in June of 2012 and it has gone through quite a transformation in the two years of owning the car. The BRZ started out as a Autocross focus build but has quickly put it eyes on to the track versus cones, although it will still chase cones.

The car also hits shows and is on display at the various NWMotiv events held in the NW, so it is out and about quiet a bit. :zipsflamesuit: Yes, it is a AT but on the track/autocross at speed that makes really difference. (For now its an Auto I should say)

Competed last weekend at the SCCA Packwood ProTour, it was a blast to be out on a more open area for an autocross. Couldnt really keep heat in the R888s, so those will be getting switched out to a Hoosier for future events. Overall in the XP Class (yeah, XP its super awesome) I finished 9th in the class, but again it was a blast just to be out racing.

This event also was our first run with the rear camber getting dialed in thanks to RacerX Fabrication Rear Control Arms, these are awesome, you can see my DYI on these here: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=68983

Here is the videos from both Saturday and Sunday:

And the car in the grid:

How does the auto handle the heat generated from tracking? Any plans to add an upgraded tranny cooler or bigger radiator?

Awesome build. A few questions, why is it an auto "for now"? Do you plan to swap trans? Since you replaced the steering wheel, I'm guessing you threw out the flappy paddles.. Ever think of bringing them back on the aftermarket wheel?

So far I have not seen any problems with the AT, however this was the only event so far that had high temps, but long cool down periods. I do plan on a tranny cooler for the car. On the bigger radiator, I again didn't see temps climb to high, but I also dont have a A/C compressor in front of the radiator any more. I am going to run a switch for the fans to help with cooling after runs, that will be some time this week.

I am looking over the winter as the car goes into the next phase, but not high on the list of items.

The paddles are currently removed, but I am working to have a bracket created to bring them back as the plug is still on the hub. Once that is completed I will get some photos up because some AT guys might want to switch wheels and keep the paddles.

Picture of the progress on the bracket. Still have some work on it, like painting black.

InstaGram Fresh photo of the rear, better photos coming. The plumber tape is just temp, going to get welded holders in place. Also going to be blacking out the rear section.

This will be more for the track/autocross setup. Going to run a black muffler during any street driving (minimal).

Started to do some trimming on the car.

First part was the doors, to get ready for the next phase of the cage: (Still have a little more trimming to do)

Next are the DIY vents for the fenders, really happy with the way this looks: (There is a flashlight behind the fender to help show the opening from the engine bay)
