I am so happy to see this thread. I am about to get some xxr 527 or 535 18"x8.75 and i dont really want to lower my car. I live in the Maryland,DC area and we have crappy roads, Speed Bumps, Speed Humps, and Speed Tables here and i really dont want the hassle of a lowered car here...Especially for a car that is already pretty low to the ground to begin with.

Great thread! As for those saying, "I'm dropped x inches and I don't scrape." aren't considering that road conditions are not the same all over. I was dropped 50mm in Florida and never scraped once. I brought the car to California and scraped everywhere. The transitions from driveways to roads are ridiculous. I loved the look but sold my coilovers to go back to stock. I miss the look but don't miss grinding the nose when leaving a parking lot or nearly high-centering on speed hills (can't really call them speed bumps when they are almost 5" tall). It got annoying having to try to leave or enter anywhere at an angle to try to mitigate the atrocious dips.

With that said, there are some sweet looking rides here!

In my opinion, if you're not going for at least a mild drop (around 1"), then leave the stock wheels on, else it just looks wrong and exaggerates the wheel gap.

My weird logic:
Aftermarket wheels with drop > Stock wheels with mild drop > Stock wheels without drop > Aftermarket wheels without drop

if that makes sense

My opinion only though, as looks are always a personal thing.

Go gun blue. To me black rims will blend to much in the wheels loosing some of the definition of the wheels. Just my opinion. I am not a fan of black rim very much(They can be done right on certain cars)

To the contrary of what the poster above me said I feel like the gun blue will be mismatched with the silver and black would be a better alternative , to each their own I guess

I went with the same sidewall height you would if you went with 17"s for two reasons, one so the gap between the tire and wheel well is that much less and two, the ride is that much better.

Tire calculator says your speedo will be off ~3.2%....You not worried at all about that?

When you say the ride is that much better...can you elaborate? Thanks!
