Again, if sports car = FAST, a Panamera S is a sports car.

And anyway, as far as being able to mod an RSX to make it fast, you can do the same with just about any car. Therefore, just about *any* car = "sports car"?

Calling anything that, with proper suspension, tires and driver can be made to be reasonably fast, kinda makes the term "sports car" utterly meaningless...

Not that I think "sports car" should just mean FAST, anyway, obviously I don't.

Brits complaining they don't get good Japanese cars. What about us in the USDM. We typically get shit on when it comes to imports.

A case of, literally, you get what you pay for :/
It's okay, it seems like this round of emissions regulations, the US doesn't have the strictest I think so maybe something good will come to the US.

Yes. Try making a 7er fast and get it to keep up with a Miata on a track.
Good luck with that.

On a track? Achievable. at a AutoX, probably not.

Just to throw my opinion in here for a second. I've used two different definitions to distinguish "sports cars" that I learned from some old gear heads many years ago.

There are Sports cars.
Then there are Sporty cars.

Something like an RSX, Celica, etc. would be considered a Sporty car.
So I would consider that 4 door Mugen Civic to be a Sporty Sedan (still a sporty car). While I would consider a Panamera S (as zdan suggested) a Sports Sedan; the car was essentially developed around the concept of high performance, it isn't just a modded version of an econobox.

So as a sedan is still a car, I would call the Civic a Sporty car, and a Panamera S a Sports car.

Although, I agree with you with regards to weight I also know that a vast majority of car owners will never see a track or road course. So based on that alone, what most people will care about is how well the car handles/feels and how fast/quick it will be. Those two things are really the result of suspension tunning and power to weight ratios. So all I was saying is that, for most people, out right low weight won't mean much. Since the FRS/BRZ won't really be considered a fast car that argument might mean something more. That is all...

For most people, the combination of the weight and the hp will be fast "enough". They all complain with whats on paper. "oh 200hp...that's it". When 90% of the complainers can't even handle that. They just THINK they can. Pretty sure they will get into big trouble being 2700lbs and say pushing 300hp (like a lot have said they wanted).

That's just a modified car. Mods don't change the class of the vehicle, only it's performance. I run down Z06 at the track, but I don't consider my 4banger FWD to be a sports car. It's just Fking fast..

+1,000,000

My RSX isn't a sports car either it's considered a Sporty car. But the only real difference between my car and the FR-S is RWD and a engine mounted lower. So I know what to expect.

2+2 seating, RWD, near 50/50 weight distribution. It's absoutly a sports car. It's not however a muscle car which seems to dissapoint people for some reason.

Small, light, and great handleing. This is so my kind of car.
