New downpipe...look at all that room! Heatshields were integrated to protect the maf. I can fit my arm through there. I am hoping better fans will help, granted I've seen 220 degrees cruising at 70 mph on the freeway.

Anyone had any luck with removing the windshield wiper cowel?

What brand is your new downpipe?

My car has the FB kit, and with the thicker radiator, the fans are nearly touching the downtube, and I suspect the fans will melt almost for sure.

@FullBlown have you tested the larger fans with the shroud yet? I am still doing well under normal conditions but when pushing the engine hard over a minute or two of aggressive driving the water temp starts rising fast I am considering picking up the shroud but I might want to upgrade the fans at the same time. Another question, the price your website does that include the fans? The photo had them installed that's why I ask.

It was a custom piece done by a local shop, so no particular brand. It's pretty close to the MAF now, but should be okay.

I'm just an outside speculator but running the turbo upfront, to me, just doesn't seem like a good idea. Turbos are pure heat in the engine bay and placing it right up against the rad just isn't a good idea if you ask me. Our cars just weren't designed to take on that kind of heat. This is why I think Ptuning has the best kit as they mounted their turbo under, behind, and away from the engine.

At Pikes Peak front bumper had ducts for everything to keep the motor cool. We even had to add a water spray system for the car on the way up for the heat and thin air. From test at the track for stock and turbo cars we recommend getting a oil cooler and running motul 300v or eco engery for cooler temps and more volume. For the turbo guys you can coat your downpipe and wrap it to keep it cooler in the engine bay. Also for the turbo you can run a turbo blanket. The stock radiator is kinda a weak point being super plastic but I would upgrade to a Koyo. Also last a vented hood will also extract most of the heat out.

Oil cooler for motor
Oil cooler for supercharger
Brake duct cooler
Radiator vents with a slight v mount
Intercooler with water spray
Intake with duct
Vented hood

Hmmmmm, now that Evasive just posted that throws your theory out the window.

add an air restricting FMIC to an engine bay with a paper thin radiator and no ventilation and you get an easy bake oven. I dont know if the guys running the frontt turbo setups have many problems on the street or in traffic but i agree that it doesnt look like a good idea. ive noticed that many if not all of them have the intake crossing right over the hotside which cant be good either but again this is just speculation. personally i like the top mount like the D3P kit, but its next to the battery...

Same. I'm definitely going to try out the fans/shrouding once LJ has them ready. If mountain driving doesn't push the temps as much I'll take it back to the track and see if it can last more than 2 laps. Vented hood seems to be the next on the list.

I'd love to see evidence on this as well. I really like the ptuning kit + turbo placement. Has anyone tracked their kit yet ?

Finding a nice looking vented hood seems to be difficult to obtain however :---(
