To those who are over 100k miles, can you post what parts have failed, what you had to replace, what mods you have, etc.
Trying to get a feel for the longevity of our platform. |

gonna have to read through a few pages but some of them posted in here:
http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=107723 EDIT: whoops, this one has almost no useful info but plenty of threads exist. This thread however is a great example of what happens to any thread that makes it more than a couple pages on here

If you're using the search built into the forums it is terrible. Way easier to find info by either using the google function to search a specific site or just googling ft86 club 100k etc....
here's a couple more but it looks like none of them have any real info other than the one or two people who have passed 100k. Just a lot of people with no where near 100k talking about their miles http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=90491 http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=94702

No failures of anything.
Still have factory everything including all fluids other than oil. Battery as strong as day one. Haven't added a drop of coolent. Still on original tires. (Only 50k since snows half the year. Two winters in salty Ontario. No rust other than normal untreated surfaces. Interior still looks like new. This includes steering wheel, dash and seat bolsters. Milage rock steady at 32 mpg for over a year. Front bumper beat to shit from highway debris but would be no matter what car. Big paint chip left bare on front fender for 1.5 years just starting to show light surface rust. Rest of paint chipped here and there but overall no worse than any other car I have owned. TOB quiet as a whisper and not one single issue shifting. Ever. Not even when cold. Windshield smacked by many high velocity rocks no chips. Remember when you ask for people's problems they will tell you them. This is a horrible way to judge the reliability and sustainability of a car. For every person that answers "the xxxx is shit because I had problems" add 1,000 to the opposing viewpoint since they never had an issue but just do go screaming it. There are know issues yes but they seem to be mostly based on the early 13s (but even then they are the minority) and common issues with the later ones are rare. Ok all you guys with problems it is your turn.

Oh I forgot mods!
TRD exhaust and drop in. RS*R Superdown lowering springs. All in perfect condition and no sign of any form of dampener failure even though winter driven (cold and lowered doesn't always work out well).

Haven't looked in a bit but since my one furthest plant was shut down for several months I am about 20 behind where I would normally be. Last I looked was at 90 so be around 94 now. Close enough to 100 to have an idea of how thins will stand up. It is important to note that 98% or so of my driving is highway at a steady 75 mph and cruise on. A larger mix of city driving could cause more wear than I have seen.

Tcoat is pushing 100,000 miles, with mainly highway driving. Ol humfrz has only at about 16,000 miles, over a 3 year period, with mainly 3-4 start ups per day, 2-3 miles per trip ..... mostly all town stop & go driving, hauling grandkids and groceries. Both cars are essentially stock. Neither one of us has any problems with our FR-Ss. However, both of us drivers are well seasoned, military trained, highly skilled, have honed reflexes and are very intelligent (just threw that it to see if anyone is payen attention .... ). humfrz |
